This is a question about the 4 emulators that I have for no reason. They are Nester and NesterJ, FCEU and FCEUDSP. When I load super mario bros. 3 and play a level when the screen scrolls there's an ugly color on the emulator. That problem happened on all my emulators and I'm wondering if it's the emulator or the rom itself. Pictures are better than words so I'll link you to the movie showing the problem.

EDIT: I got rid of the link

On the site, click on the click here button to download the movie. Decompress it with Winzip or whatever and open Nester J because that's where I recorded the movie. Open any SMB3 rom (even a hack of SMB3 will do but it's recommended to use a regular one) and go to File and select movie. Then select play and choose the movie file that you got for Winzip to start the movie.

The movie is from the beginning to when I paused the game to end the movie. When Pause appears, then the movie is over. I don't want any comments about the site because it's under construction still.

I forget if a real NES does it, and I'm too lazy to hook up mine, but all emulators I know of do it. You can see it in hack screenshots and such.

fabio,

Though I couldn't see the movie because of bad format, I know what you're talking about. You're talking about the rightmost column (if you're scrolling right) or the leftmost column (if you're scrolling left) having messed up colors, right? I noticed that too, but I noticed that in Kirby that problem doesn't come up in emulators. I vaguely remember that the game itself did that too. You should go over to the message board at nesdev.parodius.com to ask that question, because they have people a lot more knowledgeable about this sort of thing there (including many emulator makers). Go to the NESEmDev forum to pose your question.

I tried both NesterJ and NNNesterJ and neither could play the movie.

A screenshot would help more -- and it's something that everyone will be able to see.

If you're talking about the graphic discolorations/glitches on the far right of the screen (last 8 or so pixels on the screen), that exists on the actual game and is not a problem with the emu or the ROM. That happens because SMB scrolls horizontally with horizontal mirroring so the attribute tables wraps around to the other side of the screen before the game can replace it (that effect exists on the actual NES too)

If you mean something else, then I'll need to see a screen or something. Couldn't get that movie to work

Thanks for the replies because I wanted to make sure that it was just the game that's doing the problem. I've decided to live with it. Disch, yeah your also right too so there's no need for screenshots because you know what I'm talking about. You can now delete the movie and the .zip file if you haven't already, (I already have).
Can a mod close this?
