I got a new computer, and it has XP. First thing that poped into my mind was to make a SNES controller work on the PC! So I took one of my many many SNES controllers, and fired up google to look for some tutorials. I found this one here: SNES Controller to PC. It seemed to look pretty good.

I then looked up a diagram of a parallel port, and found this: Parallel Port Diagram

I hooked everything up, checking to make sure stuff worked along the way. I plugged it into my computers parallel port, and installed it all using the programs mentioned on that first website.

However, I am running into some problems. I need to know the I/O address of my parallel port. I have no clue how to go about doing this, and I need some assistance.

If someone can point me in the direction (not google) of how to figure out the address that would be awesome! I really would love to use this controller on my PC.

Thank you.

Open Device Manager, find your parallel port, right click, choose Properties, and click the Resources tab.

(That's how you do it in Win98/2K, anyway...I don't use XP, it might be somewhat different)

XP should be the same way. A lot of the drivers for these don't work with XP though, so watch out.

Thats what I have been checking out is the device manager. It has I/O of 372 (I think. It's something like that). Either way, the driver isn't working. I emailed the guy who made the guide on how to make this, and I am just waiting for a reply.

It was the only tutorial I could find that said the controller would work for ZSNES. Thanks guys.

You know you could shell out $20 and get a SNES-USB converter that works with the generic gamepad driver.

i used a program called PPjoy (Parallel Port joystick) and i've connected a genesis, NES, and playstation controller through it and it worked perfectly. I don't know where the setup file is anymore because the site is down, but you could probably find it if you use google.
