Meh... more like power flickers, but the same stupid effect, none-the-less.

Power goes out for 2 seconds, comp shuts down... with 5 things open... I need to invest in a power brick. No clue whats going on either. Not sure if this post was going to make it to the board either...

Feel free to complain here about various power related problems... or other stupid little annoying things for the time being.

I got 2 power outages stories to share that happened on the same day around last week or so.

1. I went to Wendy's to get supper. Walk in as usual and I already know what I want. As soon as I tell the guy what I want, the power goes out. WTF, they can't cook my food now and mainly, the cash register won't open so I left in disappointment.

2. I was here on Acmlm's Boards as usual. I found the Lost Threads that day. As soon as I clicked on a topic, the power goes out. WTF again I said as I waited in the dark for 5 minutes for it to come back on.

A Couple years ago, my Mom and I were at Wal-Mart. We were standing in line to cash out, when, lo and behold, the power goes out! The cash registers wouldn't work, so we had to leave in disbelief. (For the record, the power was flickering a bit when I was in the Home Entertainment Department playing some games.)

I've got a laptop, so this isn't something I have to worry about.
Although I do lose internet connection if the wireless router doesn't get any juice. So it sucks still.

I hate when the power disappears for a few seconds and the returns several times in a row.

I was listening to my boom box and the power went off and on 4 times and blew the speakers out. I had to get a new one for a whopping $400. You could imagine how upset that would make me.

Some prick next door was messing with his home theatre and it put all the power out before I could save the last of my work on photoshop. I worked for 3 hours on a great picture... all gone!!!

I had a bit of a power flicker on Friday, and that's WITH a power bar... basically all it led to was a computer reset. Nothing major; the PC didn't even shut down, it just reset itself.

(Then again, we had a pretty bad t-storm outside, but those have been rare this year.)

I used to get annoyed with power outages that only made my PC reset. They leasted for a few seconds, but now I'm (more or less) protected from them. I got myself an UPS. Pity the modem still resets on power outages, but I don't loose any...progress in games.

at least none of your power outages are due to someone not paying the electric bill

Heh reminds of me of the black out two years ago inaugust. (yea, i think it was two years...)
Ontario, and some northern us states were out of power due mainly in part by all the air conditioners. I didn't have power for like 2 days The funny thing is is that most people around me got theirs back in a couple of hours...

Man, it sure wasn't nice to shower in cold water...brrrrr...

I bet we'll get another black out this summer...it seems the temps here in ontario are a little higher than last year and of course that means more air conditioners will be running so...

COMMENCING SHUT DOWN

Yikes

Power outages have never really interfered with me on the computer. Though several years ago, a blackout hit my junior high school. I think school was almost cancled or something (can't quite remember), but power was restored just in time. Damn.

Power outages annoy me, especially if they last longer than 10 minutes. It does kind of make me realize how dependant I am on electricity. No heat (and in the winter in Alaska things can get pretty cold), no computer, and no musical keyboard! Oh, and no lights. Thats important, too.

I had a power outage in grade 1. It was the only room with no backup lights, and no windows, so nobody could see a damn thing. The teacher wasn't there either. Fun! (Everyone pretended it was Halloween. )
