I'd like to have a custom built computer, but have no clue about where to start. If anyone could recommend some setup, between $800-$1000 (CND), I'd appreciate it. I'm tired of my 5 years old computer. --- I want to play games on it (newer games) ,so yeah (I can go in higher price ranges that what I said, just want to keep it low) if you got a good computer setup to give me.... Thanks in advance (Note, I'm asking this here, because some of you have the ability to find good Perfomance for a rather low price) |

Thanks, I've looked up the items and it looks nice (will add a DVD burner/player to this setup, and tweak a few things). Just a question, is the mentioned retail price in USD or CND? |

USD of cource. Those are the newegg prices too, which you probably won't be able to get since newegg ONLY ships within the US.

Hmm... that's not a bad deal, I think I should get it too But I'll probably add $100 for a DVD±RW drive ... |

Yea, the reason why that machine has no dvd drive drive is because Lenina already has an external USB2 dvdRW drive. There's no real point in getting another one.

This is the one I'm trying to buy right now, if I could find people who sell the parts.
Excluding the HD (since I already have it) and burner (not buying it just yet) that's a decent system for $250 Canadian (~$200 US), if you shop around a bit. Now the problem is finding a place that sells these parts and doesn't suck... (Haven't tried ZipZoomFly yet, gotta wait for some stuff to be back in stock. I'm a bit wary of their look, though... they spelled motherboard wrong. ) For $800-1000 you could probably get a really nice system... 64-bit CPU, craploads of RAM, etc. Hard drives will really run you though. Mine was $300 (but it was a Christmas present ). Of course, when it was bought it was probably the biggest, fastest HD you could buy, and bought at Future Shop, so yeah. (Well aside from ridiculously-priced ones that are like 500000RPM and 50TB. ) [edit] $100 US for shipping? I think we can cross this one off the list of sources. Which now brings the list down to a whopping zero. (edited by HyperHacker on 07-24-05 06:11 AM) |

How are you paying $300 for a 250gb hard drive?! That's WAY too high. You got RIPPED BIG TIME. You can get a 400gb drive for less then $250 easy.

Originally posted by ||bass You serious? We have a total of 50GB on this machine (Primary Drive 40, Secondary 10. 50 is NOTHING), and I could seriously use a new HD. 400GB though? Freaking jeeze. Still though, I'd rather just wait and get my own machine (I'm talking about the family computer here). I'm suspecting I'll be getting a very nice computer in time. My goal is to put at least $700-$1000 into it, basically like DarkSlaya here. Thing is though, I'm saving up for a car first, and that's until October. My point? By the time I actually have the money, all these new things will probably be out, and good hardware and software will probably be even cheaper. But heck, by then people might be talking about their Terrabyte HD's. |

Yeah, DVD burning is awesome. 4GB per disc ... it's sad, get 10 of those and you're holding my entire hardrive.

3 discs and you have both of my drives... I'm just saving up for a couple of new parts, since I can get all the parts I need that I'd need to replace for aout $400, and just re-use the rest of them (SB Live!, latest cases, latest PSU). Muuuuuch better than my P200 mhz. |
