Hey, that's really awesome. How's it work; does it use games designed for some special system (like VS system or something) or does it just have a list of where games store their scores in memory? And how does it stop people from cheating with codes/hacked ROMs/built-in cheats? | |||

Originally posted by HyperHacker The scores are stored in a file, with a ndb extension. I've open it with an hex editor to see the format of it. I figured it out, and as a cheater i am, i uploaded the scores with ubernes. When i saw that after a long time the scores weren't uploaded, i e-mailed the author, and said that the data i had sent contained 'Too many serious errors'. Then, wondering what has happened, i found that there was a sort of verification code, about 8 bytes, at the beggining of the nes database, so in order to get high scores the only way is to...PLAY. Then i learned my lesson As for cheats, i think it must be as simple as a variable that says if the user is using a code or not, to prevent uploading. About hacked roms, the emu seems to have the crc of the original roms and compares to it to detect if they're hacks or not. The weird thing is that i played an arkanoid rom with infinite lives, but the emu showed it as if it was the normal rom, so, where in the heck does it stores the original data of the rom ? PS: I hope the author doesn't read this forum . Said that, the scores showing in the page as 'megaman' are legal because i couldn't cheat |
