http://www.romhacking.com/utils/dataed.php I downloaded the Chrono Trigger one, the one that lets you edit all enemies. Well, when I run the CTENED.EXE file, I get a black box with this error: Bad file name or number in module CTENED at address 054E:0047 Hit any key to return to system What does this mean? |

Originally posted by Bush Hater Naw, I still love good ol' Wolfenstein and Blake Stone, so there's at least one person. VDMSound or DosBox does the trick nicely for most games, although late DOS games like Duke Nukem 3d and Shadow Warrior run terribly. Doom 1/2 also doesn't run the greatest, but if you use an Windows shell program like ZDOOM all you need to do is supply a WAD and it plays *better* than it originally did in DOS, i.e. has better lighting, allows real jumping and looking up/down, etc. |

Originally posted by Super Slash OS is Operating System. Are you using Windows XP, Windows 98, etc... There are better editors out there anyway, Blitzkrieg made one called Chrono Trigger Hacking Companion, but I am unsure of the link right this minute (if it's even online anymore). |

Originally posted by Super Slash It means you'll have to look for a DOS emulator to run the DOS program. When Win2k was released, DOS in its more usable form was dropped, but the shell still remains. You just won't be able to run the 16 bit (DOS) programs. I think there are two emulators, one called DosBOX, the other called FreeDOS. But personally, I'm not going to use an emulator to use another emulator. But to each his own. |

I prefer having two OSs installed at once. My good old Win98SE (which runs soooooooo fast^^) and the new WinXP... For old DOSgames and stuff unsupported by XP (like my Scanner and an old Sony MDH-10 or Roller Coaster Tycoon 1^^, ...blablabla) I use 98... for the whole new shit, there's XP. No DOS-emulation needed... and if my XP can't run the newest games, I simply switch to 98 and in most cases it works perfectly fine!! |

Why nobody thought of the obvious thing? The version on ROM Hacking.com is an old version. If you download the version on Zophar's Domain, then it works fine, even under Windows XP. Pft, Windows XP doesn't work with DOS, my arse. |
