A small demo I made so you guys can give some feedback. Any bugs and the such, let me know of, as well as anything you would like to see. Enjoy

The story, without spoiling too much, deals with two warring nations. The enemy nation, Verdane, is invading, and slaughtering all in it's path. Four mercenaries, under the employment of another nation are thrown into a dangerous scandal after recovering the kidnapped princess. How do they relate to the war? Why did Verdane decide to invade? And where exactly are we? Find out, in Ancient Cry!

That's because there were map changes (and drastic ones). The routine to draw the map heavily depends on the layout of it not changing at all. And no, there isn't a fix floating out there to my knowledge.

I'm sorry for asking and I know some ppl would like to flame me for this question.
Where's my mistake when I try to apply an ips-patch:
I tried LunarIPS, and IPSWin2.0 on several super metroid version i've found in the goodsnes collection. The only thing that (sometimes) works after the patch is the nintendo logo...
Are those patches for files with or without header?

First try I accidentally patched it to Mario Fantasy Adventure (rom name: ff1.nes ) and got Mario music...

Second try, it seems to work. When I got to the end of the Bridge, I got the crossing-the-bridge scene. Is this supposed to happen?

Well, seeing how you're patching a Final Fantasy hack to Super Metroid, it's no wonder you can't get it to work.

The graphics changes are awesome. I really mean that- superb work.

Um.. the first enemy I came across utterly destroyed me though. I hope this isn't going to be a needlessly hard hack

Small issue- using Nestopia- when the character goes through a door, they seem to walk over the wall and to the other side rather than disappearing.

I'm experimenting with the event data and that was the only way I could think of to block you from entering the castle after the princess event. The enemies I will be doing last, so anything here shouldn't be too hard in the final version. An I don't know what the Nestopia problem is; never happened to me. Also that link is not the same as the one I submited to Lenophis; that was my first hack.

EDIT: Nevermind about the door problem. FF1 doesn't support sprites walking through objects like the forest does. I must of read it wrong.
