...or very nearly so. We have, in fact, better than an hour until that glorious day (where I live, at least), but I'm recently returned from the Vigil Mass and I'm in a wonderful mood.

I don't expect anybody to remember me, and I'm flattered if you do. I haven't stopped reading the boards since I've stopped posting, though this night struck me as an ideal occasion for my own return to active membership. I never was an exceedingly prolific presence, nor do I expect to become one now; I simply miss the feeling of contributing to such a community as this.

I'll close this greeting before it degenerates into something tedious, but first I must sincerely wish each of you a most happy Easter. Whether you believe in Jesus the Christ or not, perhaps you will be able to take the time to perform some kind deed on this day, or to express your gratitude to a special person in your life. For those of you who are brothers and sisters in the faith, I pray that you remember the risen Lord, and that hour at which he cast off his garments of death to ascend and fulfill the word.

God Bless
Jarukoth

You bet I remember you! Welcome back, Buddy!

I felt like I was alone here, bringing up the Lord and all. Stick around for a while, would you?

Welcome back to the board.

I never bother going to the Vigil Mass, nor do my parents. Way too long for our tastes and it conflicts directly with the hockey playoffs.

*looks at watch* Still early.

Good to hear from all three of you again .

Colleen, the Vigil Mass isn't fun for many people, but I've never had much of a problem with it. If nothing else, the Church is beautiful with the lilies and other plants that adorn the altar. I prefer the wonderful poinsettias and sparkling lights of Christmas, though each holiday's ornamentation is breathtaking.

The building was a bit warm tonight, so the ceiling fans were on; it was just our luck to be seated right below them, creating quite a challenge as my candle refused to stay lit throughout much of the ceremony .

I don't even KNOW what's at our church during that mass. Very few people go to the Easter Vigil in any event, and it's certainly not pushed as a "required" event. Which surprises me actually.

I shall be up tomorrow for Easter service though - although likely at 11 AM. All the children are at the 9:30.

The Easter morning mass is not quite as long, though it is generally more crowded. It's a tradeoff. In any case, you must show up earlier in order to get a seat on Easter morning, so the difference between the two services is lessened.

Is the church you go to very large, or is it a small town parish like mine?

Hey, Welcome Back Silvershield, it's been a while

yeah, it's now officially Easter sunday where I am.... I'm in a somewhat somber mood.... might be because of what day it is.... I'm really not sure.... but I can't say I'm not thankful for this day in history, regardless of whether anyone else agrees with what significance it might hold....

glad to see you back, and glad to see your faith still seems strong

Now that the day has fully arrived, Happy Easter everyone! I was blessed with an inordinate amount of candy this year, though I'm certainly not complaining. Three Dave Matthews Band CDs, as well .
