Okay, so I blew out two of my speakers. it was an altec lansing somethin' or other. anyway, so I want some new speakers. Anyone know of any good computer speakers?... or a method to use kickass stereo speakers work with a PC? I've already got two sets of speakers that aren't being used but they're not the kind you plug in to a computer, they're the kind you pinch into the back of the stereo But yeah... I want a speaker system that can get LOUD and not blow out. I mean... the speakers aren't rendered useless, but they've got an annoying vibrating noise now (just two of 'em) so I want new speakers that can handle me. the speakers never got loud enough anyway :-P hehe. So any suggestions? price doesn't really matter, but try to suggest stuff that isn't designed for a dance club

If you've got a line-in on a boombox and the correct places to connect it on your sound card (or in my case, a convertor) you can do that. I mean I got my Sony CFS-1035 (yes it's ancient) boombox hooked up as my speakers...if nothing else than for a temporary solution. Otherwise, I wouldn't know, just for the sheer fact that I haven't kept my knowledge up in that department (for obvious reasons). |

Yep, Hiryuu put it nicely Get a great stereo hi/fi, then just get an auxillary lead for it. It probably won't offer surround sound, but when you only use it for MP3s, it'll do the job better than most speaker packages |

I was going to get an Altec Lansing with my PC but they forgot to put one aside when it was being built, so... I have a nice pair of Logitech X220 speakers here. Better quality than my old POS Compaq ones and they're good for the price. |

I had a nice set of speakers before, but there's no real way to compete with the locals decibalwise... I found a really comfy set of headphones (a tad pricey) and I haven't used anything else since |

I have an MP3 CDRW player, so I don't need good computer speakers. But before that I just picked up a cable with a male stereo headphone plug on one end and two male A/V plugs on the other, and stuck it into the input of an old stereo system. (Any good one will have it.)

hmm, I was actually lookin' into the Gigaworks, Cymoro... maybe I'll end up getting them. seems a bit of a waste, though. might go for Megaworks... I mean.. who uses 7.1 surround sound on a computer at this stage? meh, might splurge for the Gigaworks anyway just so technology will take longer to surpass :o? |
