I was wondering roughly how many CD-Rs the average CD burner could burn over 24 hours without a major risk of losing the drive.

I'm wondering cause I need to clean my HD, and I plan to burn 30 to 40 GB off my computer. Mostly anime, some music.

A good burner should have no problem but you might want to let it cool down every hour or so. I recommend CDRWs for backup, though. And for that matter anything that doesn't need to be permenant and won't be used in older drives.

Most of what I'm burning is anime. Why would I want to risk burning over a CD fliied with anime? ^^

as you know, the slower the speed, the better quality of burns you do get. 16 speed (which is i think a disc in about 7 minutes) is my ideal speed, although I prefer 8 (1 disc in 10 minutes).

but yeah, if you have a brand name drive and brand name media, then any speed should be fine

Ah, well, that's why you check what's on the disc before you burn it.

I can also buy CD-Rs for less money than CD-RWs. And I'm trying to save some money for a month from now.
