As in, I can now legally drive when there is a registered adult in the car

Just got my learners permit today... huzzah! So... *celebrates*

No, for seriousness... Any tips on driving before I actually start? Really... any help is good

PS... the DMV sucks... I hate it...

I have no advice, except to obey the road signs, and don't hit anyone. I have yet to get my licence...I keep putting it off.

But congratulations on getting your learners! Thats one step closer to freedom.

Stay safe, buckle up.

Don't drive around with too many registered adults, because when you get your license they'll make you pay by having them drive their children and blind mothers around.
I have yet to experience this, too.

If you DO get caught in oncoming traffic, seriously, just swerve in two lanes. I don't have a license, and one day I kind of had to run from the cops...And yeah. I had to turn onto a one way street.

Did you have to answer the question about what the "Slippery when wet" sign was? Was one of the answers "Drunk Driver Ahead"?

Seriously. I had that as a multiple choice question to get my learner's permit, and that was one of the answer choices.
Just wanting to see if anyone's test was as stupid as mine.

Congratulations.

No cpu... I had a question about custom liscence plates though .

The only stupid thing involved was the DMV... they need to speed up the process a bit if you know what I mean.. or get a more inviting atmosphere

I had that question. How stupid do you have to be if you choose that.

Congrats with getting your permit! I just got my license in May, I got a car for my birthday, and I'm enjoying driving when I can. Though my dad won't let me drive much until I get a job.
I'll agree with Kario, if you're a defensive driver before being an aggressive one, you'll be safe. But you need a balance, of you're gonna cause some road rage. And DON'T BE AFRAID OF FREEWAYS! Freeways are nice. No lights, it's a breeze.
Practice lots for the road test, cuz practice makes perfect. Have fun!

Ah yes. The DMV. Short for Satan's asshole. Sure, the letters don't match, but who's arguing?

So yeah, be safe on the road. Obey the speed limit. Cruise control is your friend once you get it down.

Yay for driving! Good job. I'll be taking the tests next year...hopefully.

As for advice...one of the pedals lets you accelerate. I think it's the left one.You might want to try both, though.

i know, the only reason i passed my retake test is because they gave me the same test instead of the other test your supposed to get when you fail the first time.
and there are rednecks in the dmv where i live, and they talk to you and stuff, and its creepy...

i have to take my driving test 5 days before i turn 18

Mine wasn't, but someone keeps changing all those signs to reflect that. They draw an arm sticking out of the window, throwing a bottle. Pretty funny really.

Kirby ATW, DO NOT LISTEN TO THAT.
The accelerator is on the right. The brake is on the left. This is essential.

Brake: Left

Like he wouldn't have figured that out when he started. The real trouble is getting used to doing such precision work with your foot. They can be very sensitive. Or they can be like my dad's truck where you practically need to stand on the pedal just to get above 20km/h.

Heh... One of the questions for my test was

"If you are caught in a skid, what do you do?"

A: Turn the wheel in the opposite direction
B: Turn the wheel in the direction you want to go.
C: Go straight
D: Give up

I was so tempted to choose D....

And I should be getting my license later August... Whoo!

I had my first 'driving lesson' today (Thank you parents)

Driving... is a lot harder than it looks But its not impossibly hard... Im just overdoing turns, and... the brakes are really touchy in the car I drove

Parking is my one folly... Gonna need to work on that...
