Zone Alarm's memory leak (the vsmon.exe one) is enormous. Meatnormous. Cheesenormous, even.

Problem is, it's allegedly not designed to be running for more than 24 hours. So sez a rep at Zone Alarm's customer service.

With that said, anyone know of a good freeware firewall for WinXP that doesn't have memory leaks? And is SP2's firewall good enough to stand alone?

Perfectly configured Windows > Firewall

I also can recommend Sygate, although I'm using Kerio - which is simple but contains great features, even in the free version. I'm not using the firewall for preventing the thousands of script kiddies to do dangerous ("!!!oneone, omgballz") port scans - but only to see what programs and services want to access the internet.

Zone Alarm Free sucks also when you need to forward ports - you can't do that in the free version.
