Has anyone else gotten it? I find it pretty fun, though it's been wierd to adjust to playing with a Gamecube controller. I thought the extras were kind of cool too, just wish they'd put more of the comic in than just the cover art. ;[

The sonic CD opening movie in the bonus section is great, and you can't go wrong with Sonic 3 & Knuckles. This game is a truly awesome compilation, in my opinion. I've had it for like, 2 years

It's a must own if you ask me.

Although the PS2 and Xbox versions have Comix Zone, I think it's insanely retarded how they have save points (that's what I've heard).

I'm seriously looking forward to the next collection though.

And I liked how the Gamecube controller felt somewhat like the Genesis controller, the placement of the buttons. Not that it really matters in the Sonic games though.

It's a great game for collectors, but I would like it better if it was on GBA instead of Gamecube. Those old 16bit graphics on the big screen is a headache for me.

Yep, I have it. My brother is Sonic obsessed. It's pretty nice, since I never was able to find a copy of Sonic 2 for the Genesis around here. I don't think the Gamecube controllers are too difficult to get used to, since you pretty much only use one button for jumps or spins or whatever.
I recommend it, it's a great find for fans of the Sonic games.

That doesn't make sense. So, you'd get a headache if you were to say, hook up an old NES, SNES, or Genesis and play those games on the TV?

Yoshi Dude: Are you serious? I see like 10 copies of Sonic 2 whenever I go to a pawn shop or a collectibles stores, for like $2. I bought the original Sonic for $2 recently just for the heck of it. "It's like buying candy!"

And for the record Sonic 3D Blast IS a decent game. Just try to get past the Carnival Level's music ... ugh.

It'd be more annoying with ported GBA versions that have even lower resolution than the originals. The cropped screen size would probably be unbearable. On top of that, the GBA clock frequency is not as high as the Mega Drive which could cause some problems.

Yeah, we have quite a few places that'd sell old games, and they never had Sonic 2. I have all the other Sonic games for the Genesis, even two copies of Sonic Spinball (which blows), but never Sonic 2. It's surprising, since they had no problem selling me the first Sonic with the label that read NOT FOR RESALE.. I just thought Sonic 2 would be more common around here.

I really dig Sonic 3D blast, but I wish it had a save feature. I've never been able to beat all of it because eventually I need to take a break.. I try to get 100% of everything, it's time consuming. I can't leave my Gamecube on to save it because my brother always uses it.

I have the Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, and Sonic CD on Genesis, so I didn't get the collection.. Is there any thing on the collection that would make it worth me getting?

I have it. I couldn't ever really get into the Sonic games. I was always a Nintendo guy back in Sonic's glory days, and seeing a Collection disk of all those old games on the GameCube is kinda weird. I did like the Sonic Adventure 2 remake, though.

Nothing I can think of... you can unlock Ristar, which I've heard is very good, but I just haven't gotten around to unlocking it yet... Beyond that, unless you liked Sonic Spinball or Sonic 3D Blast, there's not really anything that'd compel you to get it, beside the convenience of having it all on one disk.

What I ment was the incresed graphics of a Gamecube emulating an old game like Sonic 1 or 2 can get annoying to me, personaly. Have you ever played Zelda 2 the adventure of Link (Zelda Collection) on the Gamecube? It's just like that. I only play those type of classics on my computer.

Ristar isn't good, it's great.

But if you already own most of the Sonic games, you may as well just look for a Genesis copy of Ristar, I'd assume it's kind of rare though, and could be pricey.

Definitely a great Sonic Team game though.

Link2004: ... the graphics are not increased a bit, and I doupt they're even "emulating" the games, they're just ported. Sure, maybe there's a slightly more crisper resolution, but seriously ... you're way to picky.

Depends on the person.

If you're a collector, I'd say it would be nice to have access to all the games on one little disc, it would just save you time, plus aren't Genesis a little hard to get to work sometimes nowadays? (at least mine is).

But I'd say, if there's other games you want out there, go for them.

I've thought about this with the upcomming Megaman X Collection, since I own X-X6, except for X3, I'm not sure if I'm going to get it. Of course, X3 is my favorite ...

The collection simply plays emulated versions of all the games, they are not ports. I am not sure if that's the case for Gems Collection though, which is said to sport crisper graphics, though it could be the same as running an N64 emu on a good computer.

WORTH NOTING: They actually did change some things with the Zelda disc--the intro to The Legend of Zelda is now in something approaching native English rather than being a mess with tons of quotation marks--though you're right in that it's just an NES emulator on the disc playing the games pretty much, and I don't think they changed anything that affects gameplay.

Did anyone ever dump that Zelda rom, come to think of it? I know that Animal Crossing dumps are available (the NES games that were on the GameCube disc, each one was different checksum wise from the originals) but the Zelda/Zelda II dumps?

Bella - Wait, a memory card to beat a Sonic game? Even without the Level select, you can finish each of them in about 1-3 hours, tops.
