All right, I'm glad that you accepted, Koneko! Good luck to ye...it'll be a challenge.
Also, sorry if the intro is a bit long...I always get carried away with 'em.
-----
Heavy footsteps echoed through the deep, dark halls of the Netherworld as Ghost picked his way through its countless passages carefully. His quarry had abruptly left the Sim Battle Arena after his latest episode, but it could not hide from him forever. Ghost could track his target's soul to ends of the earth, and even into other dimensions. If this was an escape attempt, it was quite a pathetic one. All Ghost had to do was find the appropriate portal to the world of the living (which usually lead to a graveyard or something of the like), and he could appear as close as a yard to his quarry. What's more, his prey was now in a remote area, quite far from other living. Now he could act quickly and unbothered like he always intended.

However, as Ghost turned a corner into a narrow corridor, he realized that a change of plans was probably in order. In front of him was a pack of nearly ten Netherworld hunters - horrible, cat-like creatures with sharp claws and poisoned hooks that mindlessly preyed upon any undead they saw. Ghost could easily subdue maybe five or six, but ten would take effort he didn't feel like spending. As Ghost turned around in search of another passage to take, he found another group blocking his way. He was trapped between two groups of vicious foes!

Of course, he could always use that to get rid of them...

No, it would be safer to just escape. As the Netherworld hunters closed in, Ghost summoned his trusty staffspear, Doomsday, and stuck the pointed end into a small socket on the stone wall. Instantly, a dark blue portal opened before him, which Ghost stepped through.

Traveling from the Netherworld to the world of the living was a dizzying experience even to Ghost, who was practically resistant to such effects, but he was fast getting used to such journeys. Ghost stepped out of the other side of the portal a moment later, having no idea where he was. The landscape was nothing but barren, rocky flatlands for miles. One thing for certain was that it was night, and he was thankful for that. He also realized that someone was close by, as the tip of his spear glowed green

Lapis turned suddenly. She had been taking a walk in the moonlight, enjoying the air, when a terrible blackness erupted from behind her. She instinctively drew her serrated dagger, ready for whoever was there. At that moment, she recognized the feeling she had just had... An undead creature had arisen from whatever dark dimension it resided in. She had felt no ritual, so it had not been summoned. Indeed, it seemed as if it had come of its own accord! Undead with souls... she turned to her home, the Ivory Tower, and knew she was alone. Was this a test? They were always testing her, seeing if she was ready to leave. A green light from the darkness interrupted her thoughts, and she quickly threw her dagger at the light source. She drew her rapier and held it in front of her, hoping that she would be able to harm her unseen opponent.

The dagger came at Ghost...and passed right through him! Ghost had seen it coming, and had phased into his spirit form to avoid the physical attack. Ghost floated backward, away from Lapis, and returned to his corporeal form.

Now Lapis could probably see Ghost clearly. He wore his usual turquoise-blue-black costume (OOC: view my profile for a good description...it always take like 5 minutes to write it out), and in his hand held a weapon that was a spear on one end and a clawed staff on the other. The weapon fitted onto Ghost's arm like a glove, and could rotate 180 degrees if he swung his arm in a special way. Ghost held his weapon to the side of him, and pointed down. As Ghost examined the person before him, he laughed wickedly.

Ghost: You living are almost all alike. So easily startled.

Ghost's staffspear turned into a puff of blue smoke and reappeared on his back. He didn't intend to fight...not yet.

Ghost: Don't bother with the rapier, combat with me would be an imprudent decision. I only seek an answer; where am I?

As Ghost waited for an answer, his weapon flashed green again. It was seeking Lapis' soul. Though most people carry their souls inside them, some take the precaution of storing it somewhere else...Ghost liked to know the location of the souls of people he made contact with. Wherever it was, he would now know (so you can just say in your next post)..

Lapis: This place is everywhere, and nowhere. The Ivory Tower will stop you from leaving. None leave here without their decision. She gestures with her weapon at the tall tower in the distance.

She suddenly sheaths her weapon, then holds her hands out in front of her, pressing them together. A white light begins to come from the cracks between her fingers, and as she slowly brings her hands apart, the light takes the shape of a sword. As she holds her new weapon in both hands, it sheds light of its own over the battlefield.

Lapis: I have no reason to give the Undead answers. Come and be banished!

(ooc: Well, Lapis's soul has been shattered... more of these pieces are in a city in the south than others, but there are several fragments inside the Ivory Tower. She doesn't have any of them, and furthermore doesn't know she doesn't.)

Ghost laughed at the light sword she held in her hand.

Ghost: So, you insist on a funeral, do you? So be it.

His staffspear reappeared on his right arm, along with a translucent shield that appeared in his left hand.

Ghost: I'll make short work of you, and be on my way. Take this!

Ghost charged at Lapis, spear pointed forward! However, just as he was in range of her and had his weapon pulled back, ready to strike, he phased out again! Ghost passed right through Lapis and materialized behind her, where he turned around and really swung his weapon, hoping to hit her right in the back for medium-high damage. Ghost expected Lapis to be caught off guard and block his feint, leaving herself open from behind.

Lapis rolls to the side to avoid the initial strike from her opponent, then notices his spirit mode passing by where she had just been. She lunged at him with her sword of light, hoping it could banish her foe before the fight got out of hand...

(ooc: Lapis's sword is made of enchanted ivory, sanctified against Undead. Many such creatures are immediately destroyed when they come in contact with it, but Ghost has Holy immunity, right? Lapis doesn't know this.)

OOC: Ah, I see you've done some reading ! Yes, that's right, Holy does next to no damage to Ghost. The sword, of course, will still hurt though.
-----

Ghost was struck by the sword, but it had no Holy effects on him. Ghost turned to face Lapis, now burning with a strange blue fire.

Ghost: That won't be working here!

Ghost backed up a few steps, and then waved his right arm, causing his weapon to spin around. Once his staff was pointed forward, he aimed it straight at Lapis, and cast a spell!

Instantly, an illusion of Lapis's greatest fear appeared next to her! It would continue to haunt her until she realized that it wasn't real, probably buying Ghost time to perform a more advanced move.

Lapis gasped when her blade had such small impact, in the short time she had before the illusion arrived. She suddenly changed focus, and spun around, as if sparring with an invisible foe. Concentrating fully on her imagined battle with whatever nightmare engaged her, she unleashed a wild combination attack with her holy sword swinging all around her. While she won't be aware enough of an incoming attack to block or dodge it consciously, her battle with nothing could lead to some interesting luck...

(ooc: Lapis, having no soul, has no conscious fears. The closest the illusion spell could get is what she thinks she fears, which is having to fight against her friend and ally Evren. If you're paying close attention to Evren's fight against Sanigen, you can see that Lapis will jump all over the place to keep up with him. Also, she has had some... unusual... training in the Ivory Tower, and has some minor control over her own luck. She'd use this power as much as possible when fighting Evren.)

Ghost wasted no time with Lapis as she fought her illusion. While his staff was still pointing forward at her, he rubbed its tip with his left hand, and a jet of blue flames shot out! Ghost would continue to shoot this jet for five seconds, and also try to keep the flames focused on her position. The attack would deal medium-high damage, but higher the closer she was to his staff.

While Ghost was firing his attack, he was slightly annoyed...with Laps's soul away from her body, he wouldn't be able to use some of his favored techniques. Not that he believed he would have needed to, anyway.

Lapis continued her imaginary battle with Evren, and was burned by the flames. As she flinched, she imagined Evren taking advantage of this and stabbing her through the heart with his blade. The moment she realized she wasn't dead, her belief in the combat vanished, and she turned, seeming to notice Ghost for the first time.

Lapis: You have tricked me. My anger will lend me strength...

Lapis's sword suddenly stops glowing white, and begins to blaze with deep, red fire. She swings it horizontally, and though she is far away, flames leap from the tip of the blade at incredible velocity, aimed at Ghost's neck.

(ooc: Lapis's energy weapon has properties based on her emotions. Righteousness and her hatred of the dead allow her to banish them with the holy attack... In this case, her anger and shame cause her sword to catch fire. Get it?)

OOC: Nice attack...but...
-----

Ghost held up his shield as the flames came toward him. When the fire hit the shield, it was completely absorbed! Some flames made it passed Ghost's shield, and they struck him without hurting him a single bit.

Ghost: Can't banish me...can't burn me. Why not just accept your defeat now?

Ghost faded away into his spirit form, becoming nearly invisible in the darkness. Slowly, quietly, he drifted around her, making a wide circle. Then, as he was behind her, he materialized in mid air!

Ghost: HYAH!

Ghost swung his blade at an upward angle while spinning 360 degrees. As Ghost finished his circle, he phased out again, and flew to Lapis's other side. From there, Ghost waited a few more seconds before becoming solid again.

(ooc: Well, there's a neat thing about people with only tiny bits of soul (or none) in Ivystar... Let me show you.)
---
Lapis was momentarily surprised when her opponent disappeared, but noticed quickly that it must be a spirit form. She laughed shortly, then concentrated. Looking carefully, she could spot the faint outline of her opponent in the light from her flaming sword. Calming herself, she doused the fire, still looking at the outline of her opponent in the soft light of the crescent moon. Feigning ignorance, she let her eyes dart wildly, and took a single swing at the darkness. As her opponent materialized, she concentrated harder...

And became a spirit! This change is nearly imperceptible, as her appearance remains the same, but she cannot be affected by the material world and cannot affect the material world. She rolled forward to dodge, in case her opponent's weapon could cross this border, then as he rejoined the spiritual world, she drew her rapier and thrusted at his leg.

---
(ooc: See? She's so close to the Netherworld that she's... inherited... some of the associated powers. She doesn't know the reason, but she found the ability by accident. When I post something about the Ivory Tower, this will make more sense.)

OOC: When Ghost is solid, he can only affect the material world. However, when he is in his spirit form, he can affect spiritual things, AND his weapon can still attack material things.
-----

Ghost didn't bother dodging Lapis's attack, and so was quite surprised when he felt the sword connect to his leg. Ghost floated back to gain some distance for the moment.

Ghost: Your attack hurt me? How? Since I gained my immunity, the only way I could be hurt now is if...

Ghost paused for a moment. Then suddenly, without even a second's warning, he had shot forward at just barely below the speed of sound to Lapis, with his spear pointed forward! The attack would deal medium damage, and Ghost would stop at the other side of Lapis, at a far range. Ghost did this technique because of its high success rate, and he wanted to see how his weapon affected her now. If he hit her, he'd know that she, too, was in a spiritual state...

Lapis tried to dodge, but was not nearly fast enough. The spear tip left a small wound in her side, and she turned, trying to look like she was badly hurt. After a moment, she reached into her robes, then suddenly flung her hand outwards. Four daggers came flying at Ghost, each individually enchanted to follow its target, and with malleable corporeality. She quickly took out a linen strap and began to bandage herself, confident in the time she had bought herself.

(ooc: Malleable corporeality means that they will strike either a solid or spirit foe. The bandage doesn't heal HP, it stops bleeding damage. While it might seem odd that she has so much equipment to deal with undead things, she HAS lived at the Ivory Tower for some time now...)

Ghost figured that the daggers might damage him in his ethereal form, and didn't depend on his ability to pass through solid objects this time. Ghost sidestepped the four...but they swerved back around! As one came, Ghost held up his shield, and the dagger got stuck in it. Still, another circled around the shield, and pierced him in the arm, while another got lodged in his neck! As the fourth came, Ghost fell through the ground, and the dagger was stopped harmlessly in the dirt along with the other two daggers that couldn't travel with Ghost through the ground.

Everything was quite for nearly minute, and it may have seemed that Ghost wanted to leave Lapis alone...but then, from below the earth, Ghost shoved his spear straight up at Lapis! Ghost pulled it back and repeated this motion four times, changing his target slightly left or right to apprehend Lapis's movement (though he couldn't see her through the solid rock). After this, Ghost flipped back up and 'landed' on the surface again.

Lapis finishes bandaging herself in time to see Ghost disappear underground. She quickly pulled out a short, thick wooden rod, covered in magical symbols. As she pointed it at the ground, the grass in that area disappeared, and she began to draw a glyph in the soil. She is interrupted in this by the spear thrusts, and as the first grazes her leg, she jumps high into the air, then throws her rod at the glyph. Even half-finished, it has some power, and begins to glow green. The glyph then expands, working to finish itself. Lapis lands back on the ground, and is struck by the last spear attack. She pulls out her two signature blue and gold knives, and turns to face her opponent.

(ooc: The glyph will activate next turn. Lapis's other weapons are really only there so that she looks dangerous; Her real skill is with her knives, made of enchanted lapis lazuli. They're much, much stronger than steel, and are sharp enough to cut through most metals as though they were air. She can use several magical techniques with them as well, and can use them as a focus for her other spells.)

Ghost didn't even notice the Glyph on the ground, as he was too focused on destroying Lapis. He flew forward at her, and as he got near, he leaned back so that he was almost in a sitting position, and went into a furry of swipes with his blade! Ghost made seven strikes in total while moving forward, and though each strike dealt light damage, several hits could deal medium to heavy damage.

Lapis moved her knives quickly, deflecting each strike as it neared her. She was forced back a small distance, then jumped high into the air, somersaulting over her foe. She then opened up with a combination attack of her own, consisting of nine possible hits, alternating between peircing and slashing attacks. Each time her knives touched her opponent or his weapon, they emitted progressively stronger pulses of lavender light.

The glyph hummed ominously behind her... a second moon began to rise on the horizon, filling the plain with its blue-tinted light. The glyph started to copy itself, filling the nearby ground with silver hexagons of magic. The spell was obviously nearing completion...

(ooc: Next turn, the symbols will cover the entire battlefield. In two turns, the moon will be at the top of the sky. Lapis's knives will be fully charged after hitting a total of 50 times, the counter is now at 43.)

OOC: I was just thinking now...hand to hand combat, and combat with more advanced attacks such as spells or technology are very different when posting. I think I'm starting to like the hand to hand style more, really.
-----

Ghost swiftly had his shield up, and blocked the first strike. The flat shaft of his staffspear blocked the second. Again, another shield block. The fourth attack pierced Ghost in the chest, the fifth was blocked. The sixth hit him in the gut, the seventh was deflected by his shield. Ghost then successfully blocked the last two.

When Lapis finished her combo, Ghost couldn't ignore the humming from the glyph. Suspecting a spell coming on, Ghost swung his arm, and his staff rotated forward. A buzzing noise emanated from the blue flame inside of it, and after a pause, a shockwave pulsed outward! The shockwave dealt no damage, and stopped moving far in the distance. After this, a sort of magic bubble covered the plains that the two fought in. Inside of this bubble, all magic ceased to exist for the next four turns, so Lapis couldn't use any magic techniques - however, Ghost couldn't either. And, as a curious side effect, there was also no sound inside of the huge bubble.

Ghost seemed to be able to talk, however.

Ghost: That was powerful sound magic I just used, and now we've both been silenced. Can you keep up the melee?

Lapis tossed her knives, handle first, downwards, simultaneously leaping into the air. She caught both knives between her feet, and tried to drive them into her foe from beneath. This attack has enough power to knock most opponents high into the sky, and if this happens, she will jump after him, initiating a midair combo four strikes long. If the flipkick does not connect, she'll just do this combo on the ground.

(ooc: Antimagic isn't supposed to work anywhere near the Ivory Tower, but I'll assume it's far enough away for you to get away with it. Knife charge counter at 34.)
