DO you think you'll be able to spot me (I WILL be wearing a bright yellow T-shirt!). WHo are you looking forward to see? Over the past few Weeks EVERY bugger has been asking me to share the tickets, and to think he nearly got away with it Psst! Wake me up when we get to Hyde Park! We were GOING to start our broadcast in Canada in... one hour's time. But we can't get the rights to the Japan footage until later... I'm going to be out tomorrow but I'm going to catch as much Live 8 goodness as possible. The Canada concert is quite good and it's nice that we get the honor of closing out the entire concert (since ours finishes the latest). Neil Young will have that privledge. |

Green Day is playing right now, in Berlin. The amount of people is insane. I think they just played their finale, We Are the Champions |

I just tuned in to Live 8, and they are currently showing a band performing in Tokyo. Anyone know who that band is?

Tokyo must be a tape delay and I doubt they're showing Dreams Come True or Do As Infinity... Probably was Good Charlotte if it's on MTV. CTV's coverage has been great so far. Everyone on the Barrie lineup so far has brought their "A" game - and everyone bitching out the organizers for adding a bunch of "old" acts to the lineup probably shut up when everyone was rocking out to "Takin' Care of Business". Right now Deep Purple's rocking out on stge so it's all good. Green Day's performance actually looked great from what I saw - and nothing's getting bleeped on the telecast today. |

Does anyone know where I can find Pink Floyd's performance? Besides aolmusic.com which has a terrible system.

It...was...AWESOME. Okay, sure I was physically attacked for accidentally stepping on someone's blanket leading me into a huge moral conversation with this dude about how this is effectively a peace conferance and how we are here in solidarity. Like a true idiot he started calling me ignorant. Because that word no longer has meaning |

They kept saying "we're changing history right now", and to my surprise I checked my history books and found that Julius Caesar was killed by Doubting Thomas. They really had changed history. I thought the UK line up was pretty lame. Japan got Bjork, yet we got lumped with Snow Patrol. The Who were pretty sweet, and Joss Stone, Mariah Carey and Pink Floyd made up for the countless shit singers who performed. I hope this doesn't sound cynical, but I found it pretty cringey whenever they'd parade an African in front of the stage, and everyone would go 'awwww' as though the African was a seven year old child who'd just got his five-meters swimming badge. |

I just wish they'd have given more time to bands who are actually popular and decent today. Bands like U2, Pink Floyd and Paul McCartney are classics, but NOBODY WANTS TO SEE STING AGAIN. It's a shame that Muse were exported to Paris. They should've performed in their own country, there were plenty of acts that didn't really deserve to be there. Miss Dynamite, I'm looking at you. Hey Elmo- Me and Chad are packing our bags and coming to the capital of Elmoland to see Rammstein in a fortnight (edited by Kasumi-Astra on 07-03-05 07:17 PM) |

Well, Bob Geldof didn't *deserve* to be there looking at past musical accomplishments, but I can overlook that seeing as how he *did* kinda organize the thing and put in a couple of hours for it... and he only did one song. He's allowed to be greedy. (Of course, The Killers only got one song and I can't understand that logic at all.) Canada's concert is worth looking out for when the DVD hits, I think. Fun to see the "old" acts get cheered, Rex Murphy (who wrote a newspaper article saying Live 8 won't work) get booed, and Celine Dion get... well... crapped on by the audience. |

Well how can I describe the atmosphere in Hyde Park? (I'm going to try to later.. on me blog...) But it was absolutely amazing.. something to tell the Grandchildren methinks.... Highlights? Well Pink Floyd were sublime - as you'd expect, they mellowed the crowd so much, it's like they were talking us to another planet. Ben whatddya mean the line up was crap? Japan can keep Bjork - she didn't even sing "Big Time sensuality" (As Dawny and I were early, they showed us performences from All other venues from around the world on the big screens..and we saw Bjork's entire Japanese Set. She was headlining by the looks of things. A Shame I wabnted to see Dreams Come true...) NE ways... Robbie williams was also superb, you may groan, as some of you highbrow musos out there will look down your noses at such "Lowest common demonimator" poppy artist,, but was the closest thing Live 8 had to Freddy Mercury's stage presence - he had the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand... and what I felt after singing "Angels" with 200,000 other people was something I don't think I can ever describe.... To be honest there were too many highlights for me to completely describe.. the atmosphere was amazing. Lowlights? Ms Dynamite was a bit pants (although I liked the "Redemption Song". What were UB40 doing there? Most of the crowd went to the loo when ther were on (Fact) Pete Dogherty was obviously off his face and couldn't sing... shame... Well I have to go to work soon..... As for people saying "awwww" to the Ethiopian girl>? Well they'd just shown us the "Drive" video, everyone was close to, or in tears, and when she came on stage, we all cheered... it;'s when she hugged Madonna (was was also crying) we all went "aww....", because she was obviously happy to see Madonna..... it made sense on the day anyway, we weren't being patronising. Talk more about it later (edited by Uncle Elmo on 07-04-05 07:11 AM) |

If "Big Time Sensuality" is Bjork's crowning achievement then "Milk & Honey" is John Lennon's. Ben's right: our roster was poorer than the people it was trying to save. Berlin, on the other hand, had it going on: Brian Wilson, Roxy Music, Faithless...even Green Day are preferable to their shirt-tail dwelling pastiches that adorned the British stage - Razorlight and The Killers to name but two. The Floyd were good but in amongst the ocean of mellow blandness that made up a great deal of the show - Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Dido, Keane etc. - sadly they weren't the right sort of lifeguard. And the fact that Robbie Williams - a self-righteous, laddish Mancunian who sings songs about nothing - speaks volumes about the state of pop music at the moment. I mean, come on, I'm not expecting it to be 'the same' as Live Aid but you'd at least want it to be as memorable. Still, (most of) their hearts were in the right place. Unfortunately, that place shouldn't be where Snoop Dogg of all people wipes the floor with them. |

Miss Dynamite was apalling, and I'd forgotten about her performance 'til you reminded me of it . That's surely consigned her to a career of doing Newsround-esque support work for the 'young talent' amongst London's underclass. |
