It would be pretty nice if there was such thing as automation, where you ditch your organic body and become a machine. No more sickness, all you would need is a good source of repair.

This is not the first step towards Ghost in the Shell, towards ditching your "meat body" for a cybernetic one. At least, not in the way many would imagine. Lungs, heart, digestive system, metabolic system, liver, kidneys, these are things which cannot be replaced to our understanding. As the technology advances you could very well have four robotic limbs that preform better than natural limbs, however it is impossible in the current scope of scientific knowledge to replace the brain, spinal cord and torso. Arms and legs simply aid in motility and task accomplishment. Our heads, necks and torsos are where the basic functions that sustain our lives take place and that, is much more difficult to circumvent.

All joshing aside, this truly marks the first step towards the conquering of paralysis of many kinds, or at least giving amputees something better than the manequin loan parts we stick them with presently. Hopefully, the six hundred million penny price tag that goes along with this technology will quickly fall.
