| No, there'll be some wait... But try downloading something and see that your download speeds have gone from 3kb/s to 300kb/s.  That's what I liked most about switching to cable! It made n64 roms easier to download, I'll say! |

Cable is my friend.  The fastest download I've gotten so far is 3 MB per second, but it's not constant. I love the 'always on' part of it, it's just always connected at all times. Be carefull though, you may end up filling your harddrive before you realize it.... make sure you have some recordable cd's or dvd's handy..... |

100mbps is not cable, more like optical  And is never ever for private people, more like universities if you got it from one there. Anyhow, congratulations, dialup to broadband is always a nice change. |

| Uhm...I doubt it's 100 Mbps...you're probably referring to what Windows is trying to tell you...it says I have 100 Mbps too but that's the max speed of my ethernet card. True DL rate is 1536 Kbps. True UL is 160 Kbps. There might be info at 192.168.0.1 like there is for me but I'm not sure...don't know how cable works. (edited by Hiryuu on 04-08-04 06:39 PM) |

| I have Videotron High Speed Extreme (cable) ... a little expensive, but it's fast 450k/sec download, 70k/sec upload (about 3.5Mbps and 550kbps) Downloading a 169MB file in 7 minutes is fun But I've been through dialup myself, for about a year (1999-2000), and it was only 31.2kbps (3.5k/sec) ... 25MB files that now download in 1 minute used to take 2-3 hours, I don't think I'd be able to stand it now |
