Well, as the thread title says, have Squaresoft, Square Enix, whatever, ever released a game that is NOT an RPG?

Because if they have, I've never seen one

Is Ehrgeiz considered an RPG because of that one mode it has? If not, then Ehrgeiz.

They have made this car game for the old NES.

That car game did appear on the nintendo championship cart. (an cart which was used during competitions )

Damn, only if I still had that ROM so I could check the name of that car game.

But it seems that the non-rpg games mady by Square are games that are both old... and unknown.

Rad Racer.

There's also some other games like:
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
3d Worldrunner
Bushido Blade
Bushido Blade 2
Einhander
The Bouncer
Ehrgeiz (made by Dream Factory but published by Square)
Tobal 1 (same)
Tobal 2 (same)
Chocobo Racing

There's a lot more than you would think, but I don't remember them all right now.

Yes, it was panned because of it's useless contorl system.
They tried to be super realistic with it, but it just didn't work.

Imagine in a game like Sega Rally or Gran Turrismo... You push left, and then let go. The car changes direction, and then travels in a straight line in the given direction.

In DETS, Square apparently employed a system that did not reset the direction of the wheels to center as you let go of the button... You'd have to reset it by pressing the button for the opposite direction.
So, you litteraly had direct control of the wheels

There is Front Mission 3... But now that I think of it, you could class it as an RPG...

Considering it's basically tactics with robots... Bah, I'll shut up now...

Yeah, I was going to mention that 3D Worldrunner game too (since I tried the ROM last year ), and Rad Racer ...

There's also Hanjuku Hero, which seems to be some sort of realtime strategy game where you conquer castles (it's all in Japanese ) ... and the music in it was made by Nobuo Uematsu, just like Final Fantasy

And another is King's Knight ...

But that's all on the NES

As for Enix, I had Illusion of Gaia on the SNES, but that can be counted as a RPG ... but I know for sure they've done more than just the Dragon Quest (Warrior) series and other random RPG's

Eh, I didn't know why Squaresoft became Square Enix, I don't even know what Enix is . Besides that, I didn't know such games existed that weren't RPG made by Square Enix.

When I first read this thread, I was thinking "I don't think they've even made any non-RPG's". I guess you can consider some not RPG's. I kinda thought The Bouncer was an RPG type game. Since you could play out of 3 characters roles to piece together a whole story.

Nope, but hey, the RPGs that they have made are kickass. Square/Enix wouldn't be Square without the Final Fantasy series.

Square also made All-Star Professional Wrestling I, II, and III for the PlayStation 2. They're not very known in North America though...

Squaresoft made Threads of Fate (PSX), and I'm not sure what kind of game it is, actually. It's got elements of both an RPG and a fighting game, sorta like Kingdom Hearts - except you only control one character throughout the whole game, there's no "party" to speak of.

So if that winds up qualifying as an RPG, then I'm out of ideas.

That Driving emotion S game also had this annoying Blurring effect and also the camera jerked whenever you breaked.
