For me, I saw it a few years ago.

I was staying at my sister's for overnight because of a my father's place was being fumicated (I hadn't move yet.) My five year-old newphew wakes me up because he wants me to watch Saturday morning cartoons with him. It's about 7:30 in the morning, only children are watching TV as most adults would rather sleep on saturday. Pokemon, which is at the height of it's popularity among little one, comes on.

In the middle of Pokemon, the local news decides to interrupt the show, to bring late breaking news, on the Jon-Benay Remsey Case.

Let me reiterate: No adults are watching at this hour, children from all ages are watching thier favorite and safe for all ages show, and see it be interupted for late breaking news about a little girl who was killed in her own home.

That's pretty screwed up.

I don't think about child protection as a good thing... I watched 16+ horror/spook/thriller movies ever since I came to Germany (that was when I was 6), and I neither was traumatized, nor did I kill anybody up to now... same thing as with the shooter game youth bans. The kids who shoot down their fellow students surely don't do so because they excessively played Doom 3/Unreal Tournament/LIERO. They rather excessively play these games because the bloodshed that is subject of them turns them on. (Unlike the "normal" players, who mainly play because of boredom and/or competitiveness)

I was at my dad's place, and I knew he was watching the tube in his bedroom. I go to the kitchen for coke, walk past his room and he's just lying there... smiling like a loon... watching... the Teletubbies.

That's when I became 100% certain my dad's utterly whacked in the head.

I remember this one TV event that may have gotten many Americans angry.
One wednesday night, an episode of CSI:NY was on. Just when the show was about to reveal who the murderer was, a special report comes up about the death of Palestinian leader Yasir Arafat. The news should have come up on the local news after the show, but some producer (who was fired after this mishap) decided to rush it onto television screens. The network eventually aired the episode again as an apology.

I remember that. They even did a piece of The Daily Show which showed a fan who was pissed.

For those of us who watch WWE, I would have to say the HHH / Katie Vick segment.

For those unfamilar with wrestling, there was a really bad segment involving Triple H, Kane, and necrophilia. Quite possibly one of the most disturbing things I've seen on TV. Ever.

More disturbing than Owen Hart's fatal accident on pay per view TV? Many people in the crowd thought that the accident was part of an act.

I remember seeing a lot on the Ramsy and the Simpson cases, and it scared me a bit.
I also remember that show, America's Most Wanted, would come on after a show I watched, and I'd find myself watching it and get really creeped out.

One of the most disturbing things ever to appear on television has to be the destruction of the World Trade Center in New York City. I was never able to see it myself because I was on a school trip.

I first found out about it (WTC destruction) when listening to the radio on my way home from school. At home, I turned on television (all channels permanently showed nothing but this) and came to see the collapse of the second tower "live". I thought something like "Why the fuck don't we have an atomic bunker? The US will sure get into a furious rage and nuke down half of the world, now that their two National Phallic Symbols are destroyed..." and almost received a school detention two days later for saying that, although I pity the people who died, it serves their twenty inch OMFG SUPERPOWER WORLD POLIES national ego more than well. I was lucky my school's headteacher didn't exactly share the pro-american attitude of the teacher we had this ONOES HOW DARE THEY the end is nigh discussion with.

It was scary when it happened indeed. But well... people make fun of nationalism here. And for a good reason too. We hardly have it...

I can't come up with any case now but... is it true that they censor swearwrods in public TV becuse of laws? And that's in the land of freedom? xD

I saw the WTC news when I woke up that morning. My mom was calling me to turn the tv on, so I did, and it was all over the news. I didn't get to watch a lot of it because I had to go to school, but everyone was in a frenzy about it there. Teachers even let us watch it during class. I went home after school and saw it on the news all night. I was only 12, so it was a little creepy.

Jaru: I saw that episode of raw, where HHH had the kane mask on and was being sexual with the corpse. Funny as hell. As for what the most screwed up thing I have seen, I would have to say Forensic Files, when they show a dead body, with all the coagulated blood on/around them.

I remember it, I was heading out for lunch and some kid runs by screaming like "omfg world war 3". I'm just like 'holy shit...', if I really believed him I'd probably have run and hid or something. Then I saw the TV, though...

I'm not sure if the US uses the same system but they do censor. In Canada, swearing is censored until 7PM and nudity until 11. Of course, this doesn't apply to things like movies.

I think it depends on which stations you watch. ABC, for example, has rules for which words can be said during certain hours because that way, more kids will be allowed to watch. There are tv ratings for this, and shows that don't allow swearing have a PG rating that parents let their kids watch. It can all be pre-programmed nowadays.

Ren & Stimpy. 'Nuff said. I do like the show, though.

Also: Virtually any soap opera that exists. Reality shows also.
