The more I hear about Gitmo, the more I dislike it, and while I acknowledge that we are in a war and the people held there are dangerous enemies, I think if we start making ourselves a target for war crimes style accusations, and they end up being true, we'll have even more of an insurgency problem in the future, as well as decreased support abroad. Hopefully the press coverage will keep Gitmo employees in line, while still doing their job of intelligence extraction. At the very least I can say we don't video tape ourselves beheading our detainees. |
