Sure, the thread title looks like one that could be applied to Craziness, but this is actually detailing a party I went to Sunday night. A LAN party is typically defined as a gathering of geeks in someone's basement. Said geeks hook their computers together and play networked video games all night long. But you knew that already, right? And of course there are different places to go to than a basement. This particular party included several lovely pieces to it, such as someone naming themselves NONONOYOUWILLDIE after we watched a bootlegged copy of Star Wars: Episode III. Then there was the magical elixer of caffiene, which consisted of Red Bull mixed with Mountain Dew. It tasted like liquid candy. We played Warcraft III, a little bit of CS: Source, and a lot of Unreal Tournament 2004. How do LAN parties typically go for you? |

I never really been to one. Sure maybe I had 4 friends hooked up at my house and we played Gunbound but I dont really consider that a party. I hope to have one soon though. Sounds wicked awesome.

One word, one number. Warcraft II. That game is the magical LAN party game. Get everyone going the two different sides. Me, I am an idiot, and I build a huge navy and eat up resources like a pig and back that up with swarms and swarms of ground units and then zealously protect my fleet. Then, once I have a majority hold on resources I fuck over my friends and turtle until one of them attacks me, forcing me to attack back. But by this time my defences are too strong to be breached and my forces too well prepared. Leading them to be f'd in the A. There is also lots of Halo 2 to be had. And Starcraft. Mostly just RTSs though. We drink Kool-Aid Jammers mixed with cinnamon schnappes and ground up wake up pills. One time we all took X. It was a bad choice. Stupid raver-nerds. Generally we all pitch in 10 bucks and get 100 bucks worth of food for a weekend. And generally they all bring their girlfriends. Leaving me alone and single when we go into the pool, my only lover being the water jet. |

Ow, man. We don't allow girls at our LAN parties, it's a guy only thing around here. According to the host of them, girls are considered "distracting" to the fun. However, we've broken new ground: This latest one included our very first girl. The fact is, only one of us actually has a girlfriend, so they can't be brought. Still the party isn't really as good without its host, who is of course the only one with a real girlfriend. She pulls him away and they go to sleep together while we stay up all night gaming. Hard stuff. |

I should be a boy. that sounds crazy fun. only LAN thing I've ever done was this one little place that went out of business last year, they had a bunch of network games and you paid money to stay for some long amount of time. and me and a few friends would go, and maybe some strangers would join us. Everyone always wanted to play Counterstrike. Last time I went wasn't so hot though. I hated the ones where terrorists would have to plant a bomb, and I'd end up having the bomb. I don't think I wanted to be terrorists, I just didn't know how to switch teams. I'm asking teammates with the typing thing HOW DO YOU PLANT THE BOMB but everyone's a dick. No one wants to admit they're friends with the loser who can't plant a bomb. And the only other girl in the room was scraming at me PLANT THE FUCKING THING and I'm like HOW YOU CRAZY BITCH and she's like PLANT IT and finally someone kicks me out of my chair to plant it. I still don't know what he did. I've never played Counterstrike outside of that place, so I was a real noob. But it was almost always fun. |

Never did one that I enjoy. Ever. I've been to a few where everyone played halo, but usually I get bored and people bore me though. Plus we have no hard core gamers here and if we did I'd probably get bored in the first few minutes. |

Hmm... from the description, I think I *live* in a LAN party. But technically, I've never been to one. We do play Red Alert 2 at home, or Battlefield Vietnam sometimes. |

They used to hold LAN parties at my school, for the students in the two advanced computer classes. I never went to any of them though...they didn't have any classic games, just the new stuff. (edited by Banedon on 06-22-05 11:37 AM) |

I went to 1 LAN party--and they played counter-strike. It was alright, playing with four computers networked in a row. Played a few games and it help me judge for the first time how I compared to others because every time I played, I'd play against bots and well--they aren't humans. I used to play starcraft with my friends in HS but we'd play over the internet...those were some fun times |

Originally posted by Valcion ... holy shit ... Anyways, Grey you suck. Watching a bootlegged Episode III? I've been to more console LAN parties than PC ones though, probably because I don't have my own PC that I could take around to a friends house and stuff. I think you can sum up the majority of my LAN parties in one word; Halo. I can't count how many parties I went to to just play Halo and literally kick ass. I will brag, I'm good. I'm a "Leave me alone and let me do my thing" kind of player, usually I'm out on my own just killing everyone left and right, or sniping, or being a team player when needed (we usually play CTF). Although I'd hardly go for the flag, I'd sometimes have a 20-30 kill lead over everyone else. I've been known to really piss people off. But, I've been to only a few Halo 2 parties. I don't know what it is, but Halo 2 just never really got it's time or something. We recently had a gaming party at my school for our gaming class. It was decent, we had Starcraft going, a Soul Calibur and SSBM tournament, and a few other things. I used to go up to the Gamecube (a store we used to have in our mall) that was basically just a LAN party room. The price was kind of high ... but me and my friends would usually go there and play Starcraft with eachother. I'll probably be joining even more LAN parties once the new systems come out, since they seem to have more of a focus for online play and multiplayer. Anyways, I enjoy FPS LAN parties probably more than RTS, or anything else. |

The only kinds of "Lan" parties Ive ever been to were Halo/2 ones. Usually in my house. Out of all my friends I probably know the most about computers...and thats not saying much . So I doubt Id ever go to a REAL Lan party. Playing Big Team Battle with the other team just a few feet away is fun times...Oh the fights |

My friends and I, have had and been too countless Halo 2 LAN parties. On friday were all going to play Star Wars:Battle Front, Ive never played with more than one person so it'll be interesting. Usually at all of our parties we take frequent trips to 7-11 and theres always a few fights too. If you're sitting next to someone and they're about to kill you slam your hand down on their controller causing them to drop it....ah memories. Theres a LAN gaming shop at my mall but I haven't checked it out yet. I would really like to goto a PC LAN party sometime but not many of my friends have decent PC's. |

Nah, nah, usually ours detail about 12 computers networked together on one huge hub. And what's so suck about a bootlegged Episode III? We only watched it for the hilariously great quotes. I like RTS LAN parties more than FPS. I'm not bad at FPS games, but I'm not the best either, and I find games like WC3 to be better than Counterstrike. Then again, I'm not really good at RTS games, either. |

I much prefer RTS to FPS games too..... cause I suck less at RTS than I do at FPS. My entire strategy in FPS is to avoid everybody else, cause they'll shoot me.

Originally posted by Grey You suck for illegally downloading a great movie. Of course everyone does it, but it's ... STAR WARS! And I guess I can't really say that I favor FPS LAN parties over RTS ones, since I've been to only a few RTS ones ... still though, I'm usually one of the best players at a party in FPS's, and easily the worst when it comes to RTS's.
