well, when you installed, did you just install normally? if so, it should start up in the graphical environment automatically....if you did, and its still doing it, are you getting an error?

It's telling me that the Graphical Interface couldn't be loaded... and it starts in text mode. Oh, I see. I looked at the XORG log that I go and it seems that it's a problem with GLIDE. I have an ASUS GeForce FX 5200 128 Megs. Well, Ubuntu found that it was a GLIDE card (even if it say OPEN-GL on the box of the graphic card), but Ubuntu seems to be unable to find the drivers for it. I KNOW I have to install GLIDE somehow, I just dunno how to do it. |

I had close to the same problem, but with my ATI Radeon card...I have to switch over to my onboard card whenever I want to use Ubuntu, I tried installing drivers for my card, but it never worked, got stuck at starting hotplug subsystem...since I dont have a Geforce, I cant help, sorry, but I see you posted on the ubuntu forums, thats a good idea, you should get an answer there sooner or later...although they didnt know why I couldnt get past the hotplug subsystem, had to figure it out myself.

I did it. It worked $sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg I configured it all by myself, instead of using the auto-detect. |
