I can only speak English but I also know a bit of French and Spanish but not very much as they were only 4 1/2 week classes. I also know some HTML and CSS but again not enough to use it very well.

I speak aall English. I understand some Spanish since I'm taking it in school. Spanish 3, next year I'll be in Spanish 4 AP :hudders:: hopefully I won't do as bad in Spanish 4 AP as I am now in AP Chem...Chemistry needs to die. At least the Spanish class I'll understand more than Chemistry. Anyways, I wouldn't speak Spanish unless I really needed to know something somewhere where they only spoke that language. It's kind of hard for me to speak it than to write. I would probably speak it if someone asked..well..if they paid me . I'm getting better at understanding which makes me happy. Since some think I'm supposed to know it.

English: First language, 100% fluent of course.
French: Not so good at speaking it... I stumble over words sometimes. But I can understand someone talking in French, and can read the language no problem.
Spanish: I know a little bit. Certainly not much to have a conversation, but enough to maybe make my way around Madrid or Mexico City.
Japanese: ...A few words?

I'm Belgian, so I'm suposed to know 2 languages fluently and have notion of the third one.
Dutch is my, umm, motherlanguage. I can read, write, understand French, but I suck at talking to someone in French.
I had German for a year, but I skipped most of it.
I did a semester of Japanese, but I quit due to the high costs and the general boring-ness of it <<;
I learned English when I was 10 by playing with an American girl alot, but I got English at school when I was 14.
I've had Latin (I really didn't like it) and Greek( this rocks.).
I'm currently learning Swedish, and it's going pretty ok. Perhaps I can converse in Swedish soon, depending on when the f#%/&= course starts

My first language is French ...

English, I started learning it from playing video games when I was 5-7, but any attempt to write English at that time looked like Engrish ("it the in 3 the monster" ) ... then I learned more at school, and I got to improve some more in the last few years by reading/writing English every day online

I also learned Spanish for 3 years at secondary school (1994 to 1997) ... but because I've hardly done any Spanish since then, I forgot a lot of it and can barely understand about half of what people say in Spanish, and even less write it

1. English
2. Spanish...not quite fluent, but coming close. Been speaking it for about 6 years or so...honors Spanish, 112 average my first year (I have no idea how THAT happened!), that kind of stuff. I know at least enough Spanish to survive with the Mexicans at McDonald's. And just recently, I had a date with one of them...very fun to have a date ENTIRELY in a foreign language!
3. About 3 words of Japanese. "Konnichiwa," "Domo arigatou," and um, that's it.

English -- Um, naturally. . .
Spanish -- Not as much as I did about 3 years ago. I haven't been practicing -- so I'm losing a lot of the language.
Japanese -- I know about 35 Kanji now, and all hiragana/katakana. Also can count to 10 million too.

reading this thread makes me wonder if even 5% of this posters are telling the truth...not saying you all are lying, but the way so many people have so many languages without saying something in that language is kinda suspicious

I'm fluent in English, of course, and I've taken Spanish in school for nearly five years now. I'm certainly not at the level of a native speaker, though I can understand quite a bit.

For all my proficiency in English, it's a shame that I am not an outstanding Spanish student; I've struggled so much just to maintain a high grade that I've abandoned the thought of taking the language as a senior next year. My teacher will likely discourage me, as well, when she sees how I'll do on the AP test .
