But if the pitbull was not trained for fighting, then t is a good dog. That is the point of the thread! So why would you put all of those kind of dogs in a 'safe area' if not all of them are going to attack? That just wouldn't make sence. . . and it is sort of mean and unfair to the good dogs.

i've heard reports the mother is going to get charged for this...so, it seems something isn't right here--so yeah, there seems to be a common element involved with the three SF maulings over the years...

but i think there is public outcry because of the potential for these dogs to turn out like this--the public would rather stop this at the point easiest to control--the existence of the dog

Dogs are seriously mans best friends in my opinion. If had many dogs in my 18 years of living and none of them have ever snapped. I believe that the dogs that "snap" do so because of the way they were raised by their owner, there are alot of people who abuse animals and it really sickens me.

I treated my dog Blacky like a best friend. I had him since I was 5 years old and he was always there for me. I let him come inside the house and watch tv with me and let him eat people food whenever it was reasonable. I bascically treated that dog like a person instead of animal. I really really loved him. Then like at the beginning of my sophmore year of highschool he was hit by a car and killed. It really devastated me I still miss him so so much

The Yoshi Dude says...
You have to make a dog bad, they don't become that way.

I wonder, does the nature vs. nurture argument apply to the animal kingdom? Surely, if an animals personality and temperment were entirely based on how you raise the animal, then we could raise lions and other wild animals in the privacy of our homes, and if you rose them right, they'd never give into their instincts to kill or be violent.

Since few people in this topic are providing references or proof, rather, just giving opinion which is probably biased by dog ownership or by inherent dislike of dogs, I offer this Wikipedia article on the domesticated dog.
Quote: Although most dogs are not inherently aggressive (unless they are feral, trained to attack intruders, threatened, or provoked), it is important to remember that they are predatory by nature and instinct is something that never disappears.

While trying to find evidence on pit bull temperament, I found myself frustrated at the lack of objective, unbiased, third-party information. Every source I came across, whether it praised the breed or aborhed it, was entirely based upon conjecture and personal conviction.

My conclusion is this; those who love dogs will blindly defend the breed, and those who dislike dogs will blindly attack the breed. I cannot find any honest proof one way or the other.
