1. I am LDS (Mormon) 2. Same as any other Christian... Jesus died for my sins... and he is my way back to heaven. 3. Heh, there are many differences.... the main one is our interpretation of what the Trinity/Godhead actually is.... most christians believe in a 3 in 1.... we believe that there are 3 totally seperate beings that comprise "God".... that's just a simple way to put it.... 4. Since birth more or less.... I went inactive for about a year... and then I came back... and am probably going to stay one til I die |

If instead you'd have given me the benefit of doubt, you'd have realized I was challenging your superiority complex by pointing out how embryonic we still are. | |||

I was raised with nothing, and I still have nothing (in terms of religion). I'm boring. There's a religion called Celtic? ...Well, considering how well they're doing in the SPL just now... |

If not, shut the fuck up. |

I have no religion. I didn't know what "God" was until sometime in grade school, when someone asked "do you believe in God?". I thought this was like a monster or something so I was like no, and everyone got hella pissed off at me. My mom later told me she hated church and religion as a child, and wanted to spare me from the boredom of the bible. My dad's really into Christianity and is trying to impose his beliefs on me, but I'm far past caring. I've never understood why Jewish people were hated. It's still right over my head, why would anyone care? |

I was retorting you, that's all. I added a little wit at the end to satisfy my testosterone. Maybe you just don't like me. I don't want to get into a situation of insult after insult with you. It's pointless- we're probably too far away from each other to allow it to reach a physical climax to settle a pissing match anyway. I used to be a Catholic, not a very devout one throughout my life, but I achnowledged the beliefs and held faith in them. Some time around senior year of High School I started deconstructing my faith. Nowadays I can't decide if I'm athiest or not. Some days I believe in a deity, other -more concrete- days I tend to become more nihilistic. Active nihilism, with a touch of romanticism, I would say today. (edited by merc on 03-16-04 07:06 PM) |

You know there's a ton of people in IRC waiting for you to respond. You were in online users for a while. No doubt you triple checked your post to make sure it sounded sophisticated, a change from your prior "Likewise". Then again, the added time could've been from the time you took to masturbate to that. "Nowadays I can't decide if I'm athiest or not. Some days I believe in a deity, other -more concrete- days I tend to become more nihilistic." You mean you truly believe in God or you refer to him? I find myself talking about God sometimes, but I don't actually believe. |

First of all, if you guys don't care 'bout thinking while reading, go read Superman and other Marvel and DC Comics. Now then, back on topic. Only part in a religion that's important to me is their moral value. Wether the upper being they mention really exists or not doesn't matter. Their books are stories like The Lord of the Rings. They're just stories, meant to set an example. Going to church every sunday or praying while viewing towards Mekka five times a day doesn't make you a good person. All religions state that you still go their version of hell if you keep to those expressions of your believe but throw away the morals they hand over. So, discard all dogma's, stories, rituals and political influences and what rests? Exactly the same thing for each mayor religion. This makes me neither prefer or hate one religion more than another, since the only part I find important in a religion is the same in each. |

No doubt you triple checked your post to make sure it sounded sophisticated, a change from your prior "Likewise". Then again, the added time could've been from the time you took to masturbate to that. Bob came in the room to talk about his girlfiend who wants to go on a break, I was eating a turkey and cheese on rye, and then I threw it into the trash can. I probably looked over the post a couple of times. If you want to fuck around in an IRC chat, then go ahead. I'm sure if masturbation is on your mind, you could use a circle jerk. You mean you truly believe in God or you refer to him? I find myself talking about God sometimes, but I don't actually believe. I wonder of a God's existance, but to say I believe in any sure form of "body" of a God would be going to far. I may argue at times that God is a sort of meta objective consciousness of the universe, much like our own consciousness. I'd base the idea around the Chaos theory, most likely. Every now and then I may argue with him. One night I stayed up ("still believing") and cursed God out. I could have sworn I seen a face above me. I wrote a blog entry on it awhile ago here. http://universalmind.diary-x.com/journal.cgi?entry=20031206 ...In case you're wondering, while writing this entry I did decide to masturbate, take a shit, delete and rewrite it, bring it to a professor on campus to have it better revised, then flew in my rocket ship up to GOD INC and had tea with Jesus Christ and Buddha. Kefka: You need to realize that they aren't egging him on to be a jackass, he's doing it of his on fruition. He can stop and/or make a mature argument but he doesn't want to or he doesn't have the capacity to. I'm not sure which one it is but it's not the doing of others when someone cannot make a logical or sensical reply. As for the original question(s), I'll throw my answer(s) in here: 1) I am an atheist. 2) Believing in no God/denying/disproving the existence of a deity 3) I don't know if there's a standard for atheism or not but I would say that I'm different from a lot of atheists in that I am tolerant of people with faith in a religion that makes sense (in other words, Christianity, but not Muslim or Wicca or any BS like that).* 4) No, I was born/baptized/raised as a Maronite Catholic and lived about half of my life like that until I began questioning some things in Christianity I found utterly ridiculous and, since the best answer I could get to the question "If we had to be created by someone, who created our creator? Is it an infinite loop of creators?" was "God is infinite", I gave up on any religious beliefs and just lived on morals. * - Christianity has a center authority (the vatican) which sets standards/etc. Muslim is open for any type of misinterpretation (such as the Taliban) since there is no central religious authority (and the Koran is bullshit). Wiccan is just mumbo-jumbo tossed together by people who think they posess some paranormal abilities. I can tolerate religions which have set guidlines but I can NOT respect religions that are based upon contradictions, stupidities, or delusions. |

One little quip: Catholicism, not Christianity, follows the Vatican. There's lots of Christian groups that have no central authority figure or group. I've endured 12 years of Catholic school, and it's worthless little comments like these that I get out of it. Yay...? |

There are two things that I love about Catholocism, the intricate control set up, and the more stunning Dogmas which it consists of. The rennasiance created a most fascinating faith. |
