I'm not simply talking the flavour of the week, or something that just makes you hey, this really rocks. I mean, a piece of music you could have a love affair with, so to speak. Genre matters not. Say why as well. For me...that would be the first movement of Rachmaninov's 2nd Piano Concerto. The piece is dark, moving...invokes a good deal of emotion, depending on where it is....towards the beginning, sensual and romantic feelings...then peace and comfort...then anger and foreboding...then a bit of bewilderment, before closure. |

I guess I'm going to get some abuse if I say Powerman 5000's Bombshell In terms of the classic genre, I'm in a love affair with the orchestrated War of the Magi from Final Fantasy VI I also like Ode to Joy... Mmmm, Evangelion used it so damned well |

Originally posted by Oin Ironbreaker Sounds a lot like "The Odyssey" by Symphony X. Maybe with added feelings, since the song is 24 minutes. I'll agree with Kasumi, the War of the Magi is a pretty powerful song in the FFVII soundtrack, as is Terra's theme. Metallica's "The One" is also a great emotional ride. Give me some good music anyday. Skrewdriver for pure hilarity. Otherwise, I'm going with some AC or Falconer. |

Guess most people would rather not say why, eh? As much as I like Stairway to Heaven, I'd have to take When the Levee Breaks and The Rover over it, as for as Zeppelin songs are concerned. EDIT: heh...minor typos are fun...Stairway to Heave...too many directions that could be taken. (edited by Oin Ironbreaker on 04-04-04 09:02 PM) |

Hmm..R&B/Rappish songs I like. Beyonce's new album. Well half of it is good. The other half it goes into slow songs. Some of the slower songs are pretty good. I love Alicia Keys. Her music is soothing and soulful.

Beastie Boys' Fight For Your Right (To Party) What's not to like about this song? It gives a voice to every highschooler. It's loud, obnoxious, and very very catchy. NOFX's The Decline 18:21 minutes long. You never every get bored listening to this. Even if it was just the words, The Decline would be very interesting, as it deals with the state of our society. |

I *have* noticed. I have also noticed people's inability (or blatant refusal) to explain what it is they like (or in your case, dislike) about the music in question. (edited by Oin Ironbreaker on 04-07-04 08:55 AM) |

True Dat. Pink Floyd will always be inferior to Led Zeppelin and The Who. Those are my two favorites. Stairway to Heaven is waaayyy tooo overrated. Oin, Fight for your Right to Party and many of the Beastie Boys' other songs are good, not because of their messages, but because they're simple and catchy! Exactly the same reason you used to say why they suck.
