This guy has a very crazy idea!
Guess what...
He thinks if millions of people jumped at the same time,
The Earth's orbit will change, and
global warming will stop!
Here's his HP:
http://www.worldjumpday.org/

What I think is, if it's strong enough to move the orbit of a whole planet,
It may cause a huge earthquake and desruct the world to crap.

But I think I'll jump that day

All it would do is collapse the ground. If we all jump at the same time, nothing will happen.

Well if you somehow had them compressed in one space, and average 150lbs. a person, they call for 600 mill so that'd be 90 billion pounds of force (if you somehow timed that EXCEPTIONALLY PRECISE)?

Would suck if that worked and we ended up getting CLOSER to the sun. Guess we'll all know in '06.

Proof he says? Where have scientists already jumped on a planet to change its orbit?

I guess he's trying to use 600,000,000 as a human rocket.

If nothing else, it gets people off their ass to do jumping ja-a-a-aaaacks...

Lovely, this may cause chaos to the climates all over the world.

If it works at all. I doubt he ever get enough people to do this.

IT WOULD NOT WORK!

The ground you're standing on would compact and crack and wherever you'd be standing on would turn to a weird large crater first. The earth would absorb the blow and just displace dirt and rock. Tectonic plates screw this up, its simple. You might be able to force one down .000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 of a mm... maybe...

Not even that if people all over the world are doing it. All the jumps would cancel each other out if the force is spread out all over the earth.

I especially refuse to believe that this guy's got 172 million some people sucked into this thing already.

Exactly, if the jumps are all spread out then nothing would happen - and that's ASSUMING that the force created by all those jumps could actually affect the Earth in some way.

He'll be lucky to get 60,000 people jumping, tops.

Stop giving any hint that it might work. It won't, this thread should be closed with that one line. Stop giving any source of arguing, it is 100% impossible. AND someone already tried this is '04 I believe. No more " ASSUMING that the force created by all those jumps could actually affect the Earth" NO! IT CAN'T! CASE CLOSED! (What happened to that show?)

I'm sorry, just the complete and utter stupidity of this makes me want to go and stab the guy right in the damn eye.

Wasn't this in a movie or something? I feel like I've heard of all of this before.
The idea anyway, not that it actually worked or anything.

OK so we're all floating on this big piece of rock in the water. What do we do? Jump on it! ...Yeah, great idea, until your country sinks and causes tidal waves.

It caused a effect on seismographs. So it did have a effect... but it wasn't noticeable by the humans itself.

Er, between the jump and the impact, wouldn't the force you apply get cancelled out by conservation of energy or something along those lines?
