I never really 'found out' about PHP, I just noticed the file extension in middle school.

I can't believe the original php is that old!

I didn't know anything about PHP until summer 2000, and it was already at version 4 by then (then slowly got to version 5)

Interesting though that it was nothing at all like now at first and didn't even stand for the same thing, then grew into a popular C-like scripting language ... I never bothered to check on PHP's history either, and hadn't heard of anything older than PHP 3

It just goes to show how long it takes for software to completely mature, since the language was still seriously lacking in a lot of ways (namely its mediocre support for OO) until PHP5 came out.

I still consider PHP3 to be the first real version of the language.

HH: It's a recursive algorithm. That's all... no need to expand it forever. Just don't get stuck on others like GNU, or worse might be GPG (GNU Privacy Guard...)
