Just got it installed today. Haven't had a chance to watch it yet though (it takes half an hour for the system to set up ). It's nice because (as satellite companies will say as if it were a bad thing ) you still get the regular analog channels, so you can watch basic cable on other TVs that don't have a digital reciever. The box is really small too, not even as long as the remote. About as big as my cable modem (which I guess makes sense ). You can't use it at all without a remote though.

great you got cable...hopefully you'll be using it for what it is worth. My family had satellite before, but I only used it for the movies and local sports. Other than that, nothing else.

I'm on Bell ExpressVu (satellite). I can watch pretty much anything that I want, so I'm happy.

Yeah, it's pretty nice. Basically just like satellite (I keep calling it that ) except that we can still watch analog channels on all the other TVs. And finally a real channel guide instead of having to wait for a slow scrolling list. The software leaves a little to be desired (no way to hide the channels you don't have ) but it's a nice selection. Only cost $4 more than what we had before, so why not?

We now have Comcast Digital Cable, and it's okay. I liked Dish more, since it had a much better "Guide" in my opinion. It doesn't matter though, I rest in the basement where I only get regular cable, so I'm not noticing the difference. I do get HBO down there though, but it gets old seeing "Men in Black" on everyday of the week. Plus, the only "bonus" channel I ever cared about with Dish and this new Comcast Digital Cable thing that we have now, would be G4. But I hardly watch G4 anymore these days, doesn't matter, because I'm not missing anything. (In other words, G4 is shit) |

See, you guys that have Comcast are fucked. I have Cablevision, and with it I get Optimum Online, the fastest cable service in the entire fucking US. Plus, it's never down or gives me problems.

I have Cogeco, it's pretty good. Awesome tech support. My only gripe is low bandwidth caps on Internet services (and no sign of any unlimited plan ). Video On Demand is neat too. It's like a video rental store in the TV. Laziness +3! |

I hear Cogeco's really good because they're: a) stable; b) speedy; c) not morons when it comes to tech support I doubt it's accessable in my neck of the woods though. I also want digital cable very very very much but I fear we'll only get it when Videotron finally decides to abolish analog. :\ |

We use Comcast. It's either that or the dish, and I really don't care. I rarely ever have a problem with Comcast, so they're fine. I'm not much on TV at all. There are a few channels that interest me, like NickToons and Boomerang, but I think you have to pay extra for those. I'd like to replace nearly every channel I have now with those, really. Digital cable is much, much better than regular cable. (Yes, I have been alive long enough to see the 90s version of cable...) Its especially neato if you can get TiVo type features where you can record 3 shows while your watching another show. This is really great to get in touch with your feminine side by recording every daytime soap opera! But its not all butterflies and grassy fields. Theres downsides, too. Station delays between turning channels happen, and if your little children know numbers past 150 they will be in for an adult-oriented surprise. Excellent choice to choose Cable over Satellite. I've always been a hardcore cable fan, so rock on, man! =P Snika |

If it's only $4 more than what you were paying, it's good, I suppose. Here, Adelphia charges $120 for digital cable! For that price, you can get DirecTV in 4 rooms with the Total Choice Premier package for less! Plus, satelite is a fuckton better than digital cable can ever be. And the channel guide and receivers are much better. The Adelphia digital cable boxes are as big as a DirecTV HD TiVo! I have had digital TV for a while now - DirecTV - and I wouldn't ever go back to a cable company. Plus I work for DirecTV too, so I will be getting my services for free shortly. That can't be beat! I have Verizon DSL, which is faster than my Adelphia PowerLink was, and I have DirecTV with about 140 channels for less than what people pay for Adelphia Basic with 60! |

It's only a really basic package though. Only like a dozen or so new channels. Not bad for the price but it gets annoying always coming across something interesting and only seeing "channel not available". (Which I suppose explains why you can't remove them - it's a form of advertising. ) It has a favourites list, though, so I can just stick all the ones I do have in that. I still remember when I only had 4 channels. Fun! Just played video games most of the time instead. Originally posted by Colleen Yeah, it's pretty stable, good speed, and tech support is top-notch. Barely any waiting and they really know what they're talking about. They sometimes forget to update the automated message that tells you about outages though. |

That's the problem with digital cable - you have to pick what you want to watch. We have some packages here that let you pick 20-30 channels for one flat fee, but sometimes you want 3-4 channels in a set and have to take a few others that you're not really going to watch. No wonder the bill gets run up in a hurry. |
