A very little bit of background is necessary here. I came to this board after being invited by a friend. This friend knew me as "Colleen," and warned me when I came here that there was already a prominent user by that name, so I used my secondary name, "Zem." However, the overlap has resulted in untrackable amounts of confusion and probably bloodshed, and although my only crime was the lack of prescience, I never got a fair shot at what I can easily prove is my actual name. This is the question:

Should we act like Luddites who fear progress and just leave things undisturbed? OR (this is a much better idea) should we leave luck out of the equation and have a matchup of skill, moderated by a third party, to determine who gets to hold the name Colleen on this board? I will not vote, and I hope "Colleen" has the tact not to either, since each of us knows what the other thinks. This poll will not determine the result; I merely wish to see the public opinion on the matter.

EDIT: YOU'RE WELCOME THE FRIEND WAS CLITORIS-ARR KTHX

I appreciate your point of view, "Colleen," but surely you understand how these things work. By that logic, there are several users at this point who would be able to claim the name "Acmlm," and I'm sure many of them would jump at the chance. I advise you to rethink your argument.

Couldn't you have named you "Colleen2" or something.

Or Maybe you could take Colleen, and Colleen rename himself to "Coleeen"

In this particular instance, I feel that things should be left the way they are. Colleen has been Colleen around here for as far back as I can remember (even during crazy name change sprees and the like).

Sorry, Zem, but he had the name registered here first.

That which we call Colleen by any other name [ZEM] would smell as sweet (not that Colleen smells sweet or anything).

Point is, names don't matter, Colleen got here first to register his, and I'm sure your name ZEM is just as fine...

I never really got the deal with people who fixates on their names so much, anyway...

Except for the fact that Zem reminds us of Zemus. Not necessarily a bad thing, mind you.

Zem stop whining, what does it matter? Who Cares?

But if you do have a competition i'm only interested if it is going to be violent.

Wouldn't you make a great politician/debator...

I say first come first severed...served I mean. Although if, on the new board Zem registered as Colleen before the original one came, then the original Colleen wouldn't take that well, and would take back what was his

Errr, some things should not be posted openly
Why not naming everyone with the same name here

This doesn't always come across very clearly in text form, so I'll clarify: I am not having an ulcer over this issue. I created this thread in Craziness because it's not all that serious.

I'm surprised it's this close, actually. I was expecting Colleen to have a lot more supporters on his side.

Yeah, does it really matter wether people uses capital letters the way they are used in the username, for instance?

Anyway:
Colleen = admin.
Admins > you

And even if there was a battle, he'd win, so it doesn't matter what people vote.

By "Battle of skill" I hope you mean like a duel or boxing or some other physically violent match, and not a gay "Sim-battle"

I was DEFINITELY not planning on a sim-battle. I had one of those once, it sucked. It's just whoever feels more generous gets his ass kicked or something.

I was thinking one of those inter-web games y'all play, but I'd go for an actual fight too. Boxing gloves or none? I vote none. I bet I could kick Colleen's ass. He's Canadian.
