Just wondering, what makes some people tick?

Time and time again, some people come back for more. They aren't loved - in fact, some could say they're hated. Yet, they continue to return.

I'm not just talking about posters on a message board. People do the same thing in abusive relationships, going back to the man/woman who treated them like shit.

Others go back to a job that they weren't appreciated at, or overworked and underpaid at.

Why do people insist on being persistant when they should have just GIVEN UP long before?

Abusive relationships--i think the theory is those people believe that is what they deserve (total BS) or these people "love" their abusers. other than that, I have no clue...

I know women who have gone back to BRUTAL relationships. And stayed there for years.

One girl was fortunate that "she got death" in the form of cancer...her own words there...Because her boyfriend couldn't see her in the hospital after he went in there and yelled at her to come home. She refused to press charges.

There are so many horror stories.

Is the title thread in reference to the name of a tellytubby, or the ridiculous word that the ridiculous Edward de Bono has tried to propogate throughout the English vocabulary?

Well, most people are Xenophobic. (being afraid for the strange and diffrent) So it dosen't really seem that strange for me. So it's fear of change most of the time, thinking that it would be even worser if they got away.

(And I wonder why it's in Craziness domain. Wouldn't it fit better in General chat it being little serious and all?)

When people CONSTANTLY bug you for help, even though you helped them five minutes ago, and when they finally leave you alone, someone else comes and needs help.

I mean, helping people is good and all, I just want some 'me' time once and a while, and some peace and quiet.

Other than that, I'm pretty up-beat...

Oh, and family reunions suck

Yeah... I wish everyone would leave me alone. This would be a change that is appreciated. Why do so many people fear change? I love to do things that I normally don't do. This is probably becuase I never do anything of any importance.

I think the term for that would be 'resilient', at least an attempt to be as such.

You'd have to look up a few psychological references for that, but basically it's that; some people won't take no for an answer regardless of the consequences. Intelligence or not it really doesn't mean anything in the area of being stubborn where logic may or may not really matter in their case just as long as they hope to achieve their ambition.

As pointless as it may seem to others, it might not be so to them, basically.

Like some people said in this thread. Fear I believe is the reason people go back to their "old" ways. Fear of not getting another job, fear of not finding someone to live the rest of their life with etc....

Hmm, what makes me tick?

1. People who follows me wherever I go and bugs me about something until I give them my fist in their faces or something like that.

2. People who are telling the same dry joke several times a day for a whole darn week .

3. People who thinks they

1.) People who put others down to feel big.

2.) People who mess with my deseased father.

3.) Uh.... Being woke up on a weekend or on a school break.

My three things that make me tick.
