| Well, now that I know I'm going into hospital, I'm gonna want things to do in the hospital. It's not a good idea to take anything valuable in (so that rules out things like my gameboy) so a book'd be good. But I have no idea what to read.... Does anybody have any recommendations for a book I could read in hospital?  At the moment I'm not sure what to get, maybe the book for Fight Club or something... I dunno really yet. |

| If you haven't already, read a Stephen King book, especially if it's going to be a while. You can probably get something like It, The Stand (the new, uncut version) or 'Salem's Lot. They're all really good books. | |||

| Fight Club is a really good book if you havent read it yet. I just finished Trainspotting myself. It deals with some pretty heavy content, but it's pulled off so well that you just don't care. I reccomend reading Fight Club first, since it's fairly short. If you like that, then give Trainspotting a try. |

| I'm going more towards James Joyce's Ulysses or maybe Don Quixote being the finest piece of relatively modern literature. But the BEST piece of literature ever created. EVER. Never to be bested. Oedipus Rex of Sophocles. Although the Agammenon of Aeschlyus is pretty good. In addition, the Ecologues are the REAL best work of Virgil. |

I would recommend it for political active persons. I should look into the Dune books, I only played the strategy games (which apparently have alot of things... diffrently). Never read the books. |

| I'd reccomend the Alexandre Dumas "d'Artagnan Romances" series, which includes The Man in the Iron Mask. If you've seen the movie, read the book anyway. I feel that the mask itself was a metaphorical representation of the very concept of opression and despair, which is something that the movie doesn't really convey. Frank Baum's stories of the Land of Oz are something to consider. If you want fantasy that has an indescribable human element, try the Song of Fire and Ice series by George Martin. A lot of fantasy books tend to get caught up in the whimsy; you're more focused on the dragons and magical spells than on the people involved. Also, there tends to be a strong stereotypical sense of "good" versus "evil" in the genre. A Song of Fire and Ice lacks both flaws, I'm particularly satisfied with the way that even the antagonists are portrayed as having conviction in and reason for what they do, and the protagonists aren't infallable pilars of goodness, either. Magic is present, but rare and prestigious, used subtly where other series overuse it to the point that it becomes banal. In fact, a new book in the series is due out next month, and another one come November. I think it's fun to be involved with a currently-running series. Sure, you can discuss books of ages past, but they're over, so you'll never be able to make predictions for the future or anticipations of events to come; what was, was. | |||

Catcher in the Rye is a good book that I read in school..but you probably would have read it already  since I dont read books too much. Go Ask Alice was a different book about how a girl got into drugs and how her life got worse..sad but it was interesting. Im not sure of too many other books sowwie  |
