Its so easy to change your IP correct? Well then, why dont people who are banned just change their IPs and Rereg??? Im not trying to exploit something, but shouldnt something like this be fixed? So like you close off threw their cookies and somehow make the cookie undeleteable?

Wow! If I could somehow invent a way to put a file on YOUR hard drive and make it COMPLETELY UNDELETABLE, even by low-level format, MRI exposure, or other severe methods, I'd be the richest man in the universe! I should start developing this right now!

I have re-regestered on boards by changing my IP address. I have also used proxy's, but some boards actually still don't let me.

Everyone tells me that I can only change my IP by contacting my ISP, and asking for it to be changed, but I am able to change it without doing that for some reason.

Also, re-formating your computer changes your IP address.

I don't think that its possible to create a program/file that will make other files on your PC undeleteable. And if it is possible, virus makers/hackers would have already found a way to do that.

Well, when you get ip banned your cookie isn't deleted. I got the impression that you thought that.

And oh, you can request your ip to be changed from some ISP's. But it will be similar and a wide IP ban would still cover you.

What I find funny is how people confuse their Ethernet IP with their WAN IP. So many people who have told me to join their server at 192.168.1.2... *rolleyes*

Oh, maby thats what I have been changing then. I honestly didn't know there was 2 IP's. But I have still gotten around being blocked by IP blocking at other sites, *cough*gamefaqs*cough*.

Not everyone has a WAN IP... It's simple enough though. 127.0.0.1, 10.* and 192.168.* are network addresses. (So next time someone says their IP is 127.0.0.1, laugh at the n00b. )

Anyway, changing your IP isn't as easy as it seems. There's a few ways...
-Ask your ISP. They might do it, but they'll probably want to know why and might charge for it.
-If you can use a manual configuration, keep guessing until you find one that lets you in.
-Use a proxy (though it'll probably be WAY slow) or hack into a network.
-Some peoples' IPs just change every time they log on, such as AOLers... They tend to find themselves banned from places just because they have a sucky ISP though.

I'm not sure this board even has a cookie ban... Might be possible though.

There's been rather... unique things done with cookies in the past on the board. Let's leave it at that.

We *could* ban a range of IP's in case a dynamic one pops up, but the odds of it affecting other users are pretty high, so... :\

LOL. They could also switch computers.

Actually, I DID ban 127.0.0.1, when I was testing board32's IP ban feature on a development machine.

I have a dynamic IP because I use dialup...it's the only thing available out here. The weird thing is thatr my entire IP range changed a while back, from 65 point something to 216 point something (I don't remember all the other numbers).

They could ban as many proxies as they find, although they'll never really solve the "IP banning isn't perfect" problem. ;/

You raise a very good point. For the fact that if a program was created someone would find a way to turn it into a virus and then everyone would be screwed.

Plus, how would you get it onto people's computers? They would have to download it or upload it. So there is another flaw that would have to be figured out before it would work.

Wow, way to crush Yiffy Kitten's dreams and most likely make him cry.
If only he wasn't completely and undeniably serious about his plans.

Wasn't AOL blocked for a while to stop Ninja AE?
