Ok I downloaded a file that was supposed to be a file to play on epsxe, but the file was not supposed to be a mdf and a mds file, it was supposed to be a ccd file so it can play on the epsxe. The game I download is suikoden. I got a question what are those files for and what do they do.

mdf and mds are another CD image format similar to ccd. I believe mdf/mds system allows for games with copy protection to retain copy protection such that when you either burn the image to CD or mount it, the game will believe the copy protection is there. One such CD emulator is called Daemon Tools (that's free) and a software that will allow you to burn mdf/mds is Alcohol 120% (trial version appears to be a version with full features, just annoying timer message before you start using it--not sure if it will expire)

Yes, but you need to use a program designed to burn that specific format. Don't just drag and drop it onto the disc.

you can but you still need a CD emulator

but anyways, if you have emulated the CD, then you can use Nero (which works for me) and use its CD copy function to copy the image file onto the CD.
