Schwa,

Didn't know it was a glitch, so I wasn't "taking advantage" of it. This I gleaned from Toadstool's message after level 5 referring to a section with hammer suits or something like that. So don't call me "low."

EDIT: I finished it. It was fun! Good job, Schwa! BTW, for the ending sequence, you know when it shows slides of all the worlds you've been to right? Is it possible you could change the slides to match your worlds? At that point, your hack would pretty much be complete. Good job!

I've thought about it, but it would take quite a bit of Hex editing, and I don't even know where to find the offset addresses.

P.S. Wasn't insulting YOU, just what you DID. No flamer-wars allowed, remember!

Well, I played nearly all the hack (I'm doing world8), and I must say these are the best levels I've ever seen in a smb3 hack, you're a very good level designer. (I really liked these levels where you have to find the red note block to finish it )
I think they will inspire me for the few last levels I have to do for my hack (the first playable version will be released within a few weeks/days maybe...)

First paragraph: Well, you'd only have to find the tileset right?

Second: Even though flame wars aren't allowed, am I not allowed to respond? I don't intend to start a flame war, but I intend to clarify what happened and I'd like you to acknowledge my previous comment that I did not know it was a glitch (because of Princess Toadstool's letter and also because I thought your tester should have found something like that). That's all. I'm not that kind of player.

Freaky thing (bug?):

In World 1-5 (grassy hills in the black of night), in the spot where you can repeatedly stomp Goombas for 1-Ups, I got a weird "opposite" sound about once in every 10 or 20 1-ups. For a second, I thought that maybe I'd lost a life as a penalty for taking too many!

The only problem is that I didn't. As far as I remember, I didn't visit any mushroom houses in that world; not only because I had reached the limit (4 rows), but also because I'm a quite good SMB3 player, and therefore don't need to use items at all (not very often, at least).

One unpleasant thing: I'm stuck in World 2 with big rocks blocking all the paths. Presumably I should have found a secret exit or something leading to a hammer somewhere along the way, but I didn't... and I'm stuck!

What did you mean with that? Anyways, I saw this when reading the readme file, but forgot to tell you: You forgot the R in my username: it's DurfarC, not DufarC. For some odd reason, many people do that mistake...

You're not going to respond to what I said? Okay, fine. I didn't mean to offend you or anybody or do anything like that, but I guess I hit a nerve. If I did, then I'm sorry.

To beneficii: Nah, I'm not offended easily, but really there's no use bulldogging a resolved conflict, is there? We both solved the conflict, and it'll never bother us again. Ever.

to DurfarC: What I meant was along the lines of "Aw HELL! How is he THAT good!!?" Because quite frankly, I tend to die a lot of times in World 8, even with items, and by God this is MY hack I'm playing!

And I'll make sure to fix the Readme. I know how it's like to have my name misread, and now I feel a little sheepish...

Yeah, now that I think about it, there's not really a point. Never mind. It was a good game though. Regarding that tile comment, perhaps you can search the CHR-ROM for the tiles to those final panels, then go and look for the patterns near the end of the PRG-ROM, and then try to pinpoint where those panels are stored by remembering the patterns, the offsets for the tiles in question, then do a (relative?) search. Perhaps it's not completely tile drawn or compressed?

Regarding misread names, you don't know how many times mine has been butchered....

I downloaded it. It's challenging, but not in the "damn you Schwa!" way. My jumps are never timed well, so that's probably my main problem.

... I haven't even beat the first minifortress. Damn I suck. But hey, it's a good hack.

And about name butchering, try my other name, Cheveyo Chowilawu.

Updated to v1.3! In this version:

-DurfarC's name is spelled correctly
-World 8 Tank#2 is a bit different. Instead of the occasional Goomba, you have an occasional Bob-Omb falling from the sky.

Couldn't find any. I'll probably be informed about any glitches when DurfarC gets back to me with his World 8 report. He's a great beta-tester, but he's kind of occupied with things right now and the testing will have to wait for a while, he told me...

I'm really trying to play and enjoy this hack, but SMB3DX has spoiled me to no end. I'm so used to my physical hacks, that controlling Mario in yours is a lot harder for me to do now! Though I've played the first 4 levels and plan to play more. Your level design is really good, and for me to say that, I bet you know what that means Just don't say a word, or else!

Edit: This post was supposed to be above DDs post, I just forgot to refresh before posting.

I am actually finished, but I lost what I had written about world 8. I didn't find any glitches though, everything looked pretty nice.

About my time: Yes, I tend to be busy at this time of the year. Unlike most other people around here, I work at school and get good grades. However, I've been home from school due to illness these days, so I've been at the computer most of the time. I started working on my own hack again, not only because I have much time now, but also because I got inspired to work on it again after playing this hack.

When it comes to how good I am, I died quite a few times in world 8. Then again, I've owned the game for almost 15 years, so my skills and timing should be good enough. Another reason why I didn't visit the mushroom houses in world 6 is that the card game appears quite often. Also, I was so exited that I couldn't waste my time on them.

Oh well. I just think that if you're going to test a game, you should test as much stuff as you can think of. So were the mushroom house and hammer bro glitches fixed?

To me, this is better than Strange Mario Bros. 3 & I love that hack. We need more quality SMB3 hacks like this. Awsome job on the hack, overall very creative.
