More of a dillemma than something easy to answer. The end result is good; who's gonna lose their money to a scam when the evil website blatantly yells 'Scam' at you and tells you to flee?

But the way of doing it is the problem. Hacking is... not right, and usually unfair.

So in the end, it leaves us to wonder whether they will attack these people for hacking others or let them go until sufficient measures of dealing with phishing are created.

White-hats are good hackers. Trust them. Besides, taking down those sites is very, very good net karma.

This isn't exactly a new trend -- white hats have gone "vigilante" before.

Frankly, I support the white hats here, but I think ultimately they are wasting their time as the phishers will simply set up shop elsewhere.

I'm all for it. If law enforcement is lacking, or is too chickenshit or incompetent to do anything about it, others should step in. There is a staggering amount of fraud online these days.

Jeez, sign me up. About damn time someone decided to clean up some of the crap on the Web. They need to branch out from just fraud sites though. I can name a few legit but horribly crappy sites *cough*tripod*cough*experts-exchange*cough* the world would be better without.

I must say that some of thoose hacked websites are so funny, I found a list of them somewhere.

The best thing is, police would probably ignore thoose hacking attempts. Who would want a reputation of helping fraud sites? Besides most of thoose are based somewhere in asia anyway. xD
