I kind of asked this a few months ago. However my English was sort of bad so it did not come out as a very good point that was made. I am hacking SMAS SMB2. I had to replace the graphics of all characters except for the Toad to make room for something I am doing. I want to know is if I can get rid of choosing a character. Make you be Toad automaticly and remove the chose screen. I am not affraid to get my hands dirty if that is what I am required because I need to make this Thank you very much if you can help me! | |||

You certainly can... but you would need to do an assembly hack to do so. But to do so you would need to learn a bit of 6502 assembly. I'll let the NES vets bring up links to those, since I don't do NES, just SNES. Find an NES debugger, such as FCEUDX (spelling?) and try to locate the variable (i.e. memory location) that controls which character you start the stage as. Make sure it is set to Toad by default. You would also need to reroute the code that brings you to the select screen to skip it, so it goes directly to the stage (1-1, 1-2, 1-3, etc...) |

MathOnNapkins: You could have answered his question. I am hacking SMAS SMB2 He isn't editing the NES version, but the SNES version. So maybe that is what I am pretty sure of... |

*sigh* so sue me I didn't catch that. Almost no one I've met hacks that version. And I believe Yoronsuku is a girl. Yes I know lots of boys like to pretend they're girls on this board, but this I'm pretty sure of. So yeah I can help with learning ASM (assembly) but don't expect us to do the hack for you. |
