I'd just pick any random Star Trek name out of a hat, but just to please NSNick a bit, I'll say Alderaan.

Also, name's Qo'nos, not Kronos.

No, this one isn't in our Solar System, it's 15,000 light years away! We've already discovered many extrasolar planets, that's not anything new.

If you travel at 99.999% light speed, it might seem to you to take around 2,000 years to get there, but 200,000 years would have passed by on Earth. Yeah, relativity is confusing.

But Alderaan gets blown up. =\

How about Kashyyyk? Nobody would ever pronounce it correctly.

Graviteh: groooooan...

I believe in Star Wars they say "Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away..."

So yeah it's already blowed up. Unless it's all about the remembrance now. The new planet is in this galaxy after all.

This is just a thought, but do we have the right to name planets out of solar system? Theres probably a closer life-sustaining planet..

Actually, spacetime will get warped and it'll seem to you to be a whole lot faster than the distance it is... it's all relativity.

When you watch the movie, it's taking place in future future tense. ;D

But in the expanded universe Lando Calarissian drinks something called "coco" from a very primative planet on the farthest reaches of the Outter Rim. So, it could be happening thousands of years ago in a galaxy far more advanced than our own :o

No, it isn't. But it adds an additional perspective to the debate, did it happen a long time in a galaxy far, far away. As a direct intention of the film may be. Does it happen in the far future, possible tens of thousands of years, and we are seeing a historical document? Or is it like the EU, and that it is happening in our own galaxy, or at least one close to, in the past/present?

Heh, I am not really worried about it. I dont think we should worry about other planets. Earth is just fine. I could personally care less whats a few thousand miles away from Earth, as long as it wont hit us.

Heh, a few thousand miles. It's millions for farther away than that.

But yes, It doesn't impact us in any big way. It's still nice to know. We can't even dream of visiting that place. Too far
