I finally started using these (omg) and noticed there doesn't seem to be one for PMs. Any plans to add one?

Why? If you actually visited the board, you would find out if you had one almost instantly.

You don't need the entire board handed to you on a platter

Yeah, unless you're getting 20 PM's a day, I'm not sure why you'd really want this.

I think its a pretty good idea plus its not hard to do so. And I am nearly 100% sure it would get used. I dont get many PM's but there are people who prolly get some a lot.

I say good idea.

Sometimes I go a while without checking, but it'd be nice if there was a quick way to check for new messages. Plus it could really work well with an RSS reader that tells you immediately when the content is updated.

How would you even do it anyways? Private messages are specific to your user account. Any solution would be extremely insecure, and could result in people reading your PMs.

Include some sort of passcode in the link? (Like your password, but not actually your password; some sort of random number assigned to you. Maybe your IP, I dunno. )

Hmm, good point. I just tested it and the feed for a staff forum will only load if I'm logged in (not even if I log in with that User Name account someone made a while back), so there must be some form of verification at work.

Apparently, your web browser sends your cookies when requesting the feed. So a feed for PMs should work as long as your reader is your web browser or can somehow use cookies from your web browser.

Who doesn't?

From memory:
10 - Spam/Abuse/Offense Report Forum
11 - Admin Room
23 - Private area

and from consulting a list I made last year using a forum scanning script:
39 - AcmlmBoard 2.0 Development and Suggestions

Cool, I think you got them all.

I figured cookies had something to do with it. So there you go, it's quite possible to do.

Web browsers are not meant to be news aggregaters. Plus, some implementations of RSS within a browser do not send out cookies while doing it.
