Has anybody here been able to do that with a lot of consistency, and can you pull off the types of combos and crazy stuff that they show there?

Yeah, I did. Anyone notice in the Mute City stage that there was two platforms spinning at the last part of the Pikachu part?

I can catch items effectivley. I would rather dodge them, though. Better watch out with my screw ball throwing skills! They are unmatched. Awesome stuff.

Ugh, my friend who mastered Pikachu dodged about 99% of the shit I threw at him. That was aggravating as hell.

That is the only thing about that though... although for me, I usually don't throw them directly at them... I hit slopes and they richochet and then hit. If it gets reflected, I don't get hit... sometimes...

Oh boy, I can't wait to see this online... it will be a really good online game...

Bleh. The ability to catch items pretty much ruins the point of having them at all. They only get thrown back to you.

Yeah, reflector shield rules. Throw that shit at me?

SCREW YOU! Plus, it slows your fall, allowing you to do some pretty neat dodge-attacks.

HH, that's why it's important to aim so that they can't catch it. Throw that bomb next to them instead of directly at them etc.

Ziff: And this is another reason why I play a char with no projectiles.

I was practicing a bit more and I found it quite easy to throw a weapon such as the Beam Sword, run up, catch it and then whack whoever it hit.

Yeah, sure the deflector would be a bad thing against me, but bombs would work perfectly against that like Kyouji said. I also know when to throw items when and where, too. Screw Balls, for example, bounce on slopes. Jump up in the air and throw at one and it will fly off to the left or right and even if reflected, I don't get hit.

Anyway, yeah, there are disadvantages to throwing items, but then again there are disadvantages to using the reflector shield as well.

Yeah, there is also a disadvantage to punching at the wrong time

The point stands that using a throw item against Fox is a bad idea. Additionally, a good Fox player can quickly use the reflector shield to bounce the item back and carry on into a combo. Or better yet, lower themselves onto a ledged opponent and f them up good.

You know what's good time fun? Putting everyone's % the highest (as in, Sudden Death mode) and making the only items in the match bombs.

You want to know what else is fun? Set the hit ratio really high so where everything does double the effect. THEN set it to sudden death and make only bombs.

The FireOcean says...
What? Link's Spin Attack in SSB was TERRIBLE. He had absolutely crappy jumping power compared to what it is in Melee. Plus, Link can also use the hookshot to attach on to ledges, if you didn't know.

Everybody tells me that, everybody insists that Link was clumsy in SSB and is much improved in Melee. It just feels the exact opposite to me.

The FireOcean says...
Speaking of Samus, I hope they retool her in Smash Bros online so that she has more attacks that relate to equipment from the Prime games. I'd love to fire an Ice Beam or a Wave Beam at somebody.

The Ice and Wave beams are not inventions of the Prime series. They've been staples since the begining.

I've never understood the point of throwing a Screw Ball at someone. It just wastes the item, and anyone that they hit during their Screw Attack will count as their kill. Now catching Bob-Ombs; that is an artform. Some people don't even know you can catch items, I adore the reactions I get when someone thinks they've finished me and I suddenly retort their attack in a marvelously explosive manner.

Another fun thing to do is set the damage ratio on 1/2 and have endurance runs. Really long, drawn out battles that are just skill vs. skill.

Come to think of it, why wouldn't it be better to just emulate the game and play online through an emulator, at least until the Revolution shows up.

With ProjectK, you can play multiplayer. I played SSB against Jesper, it was just very tricky to control with keyboard.

And three/four year old computers shouldn't have problems to emulate the orginal SSB.

I wonder if it was that others downloaded file4s from our network that made me lag when we played Bomberman, Kitten Yiffer.

Pfft those ways of having fun SUCK!!!

Heres some real fun, make it only Mr. Saturns and play DONT DROP THE SATURN!!!
What you do is jump and throw it, then the other player catches it in mid air and throws it, however lets the Mr. Saturn touch the floor first loses.

Reflector Shields dont bother me at all, I try and attack as unpredictable as possible, because anyone whose played the game enough knows that Melee is essential predicting your opponents next move and countering it.

Anyone else master the Wave Dash yet? As much as Id like to say I have Im still not very good at it offensivly, defensivly however Im pretty good. I call it Moon Walking myself
