Well, it seemed that I got what I asked for last time I posted a topic like this, so lets see if it happens again.

I have had to make all my castle, and ghost house levels into levels that allow Yoshi; meaning no more castle/ghost house entrances. I don't plan on using that no Yoshi intro, and Yoshi would be nice to have in my hack. However, in castles and ghost houses he (mario) is "forced" to hop off Yoshi and leave him. This is because his tongue gets glitched in these types of levels.

So, would it be possible to ASM a hack/patch that will allow mario to take Yoshi into castles and ghost houses WHILE using the castle/ghost house entrance? And have his tongue not glitch up?

An even better idea would be to have the option (while on the castle/ghost house entrance screen), to leave or keep Yoshi. This would be WAY harder to do, but would be a nice touch.

So if someone could make an ASM patch/hack for Yoshi to be allowed into castles and ghost houses, and not have his tongue glitch up, that would be awesome.

Thanks for your time. Hopefully something good comes out of this thread.

You could probably fix the tongue problem with some ExGFX, but you'd have to sacrifice some other things.

you would have to sacrifice the dry bones to use the tongue in castles, the tongue GFX is 366 and 376.

y;know, couldt you NoP out the subroutine for yoshi's tongue? It should be as simple as looking for code that ANDs the accumulator with the value of the Y button being pressed after loading register $17/$19.

What, disable Yoshi's tongue altogether? Sure, you could (I think people have done it before) but it'd kinda suck.

well, there is another way. JSL to a custom subroutine that shecks to see if you are inside a castle or ghost house, or wherever yoshi shouldn't be (perhaps with a table and level number lookup ASM?), and then either return or allow th tongue to work depending on your criteria.
