Does this site really insult people's intelligence?

Just take a look around the site and see if you feel dumber in about 10 seconds.

(P.S. It's a humor thing yet strangely similar to real life...)

xD

I must say that I thought it was real on the front page, knowing a few crazy people's paranoia about terrorism. (someone died becuse he covered everything in his home with duct tape so poisen gas wouldn't go into his home. You can bet that the oxygen level dropped...)

Melting from radiation. xD

It's a parody of the Department of Homeland Security's website and all those pictograms are from there. Really, if you wanna talk about intelligence insulting, look at the original.

I mean, LOOK at those pictograms. But on the other hand, they're brilliant captioning fodder.

Heh, any substance will melt if you get it hot enough...

I don't see it insulting my intelligence, but some parts of it are kind of stupid, like the heart eating terrorists portion.

That website has to be the funniest thing I have ever seen in my entire life.

I don't know about the duct tape.

that is a mixture of compounds, and naturally some portions of it will evaporate out/melt first. The high energy substances in wood will vaporize, giving you "fire." And the remaining carbon and carbonish substances will evaporate or melt at much higher temperatures.

unless you... weren't being sarcastic, then that's just scary.

actually, if you have the right pressure, then it depends on whether it melts or not. Sure the material may actually combust first before melting but it depends on the pressure whether it liquefies.

Jeezi Creezi... everyone's a scientist these days. I was assuming standard pressure. One thing I don't know is, if removing all oxygen from the testing area (and funneling in other inert gases lke nitrogen to equalize pressure), will prevent cumbustion of wood even at extremely high temperatures, say 3000+ degrees F.

Fire requires oxygen to burn; without oxygen, you will achieve no flame. I'm not certain what happens when you superheat something without the presence of flame. Operating on pure conjecture, I would imagine it's like cooking something in a microwave. The molecules would be excited, producing heat, and at some point, if the object is under any kind of pressure or has any sort of surface tension, it will burst.
