Download Here
You'll need at least 3MB of video memory. You'll notice it doesn't render as it would in the game, but rather just a very simple colour-block rendition; this is because A) this is a beta and I haven't figured out the graphics yet, B) I don't know how to do 3D stuff and C) my video card sucks.

Oh yeah, you need the VB runtimes from M$. (Yeah, I know I said I'd be moving to C, but I don't know that well enough yet. I found this all pretty quick, even surprised myself. )

They damn well better. Took me 6 hours to get the damn top speed override to work, turns out it was a mirror of another address. But I'm sure you can find some uses for that teleportation hack and them loop-de-loops.
BTW Super Mario 64 uses the same compression so it's actually possible to edit the levels with this too, but I don't suggest it (it slows WAY down trying to load sprites since they're in the wrong format but you can edit the basic level layout, might crash tho). Unfortunately I don't know where any except the Wing Cap course (0x55B123D0) are.

Oh and I found a small bug in the CRC repair code that can cause an invalid checksum if it works out to 0, just change something and save again in this case.

...Hmm, I'm banned. I was wondering what Acmlm'd do for today.

IS AMZING!

One of my favorite N64 games will be edited in few days by a lot of excellent hackers.

I can't wait for the new versions.

Yeah, they're so excited that they didn't even try to run the install (nice one there, 1MB install that shrinks to 4k when zipped)

But yeah, a few things looked weird there ... first, I don't recognize that map (would have guessed Wario Stadium), then there's some curves between the little squares ... and then, offset $55B123D0 = 1437672400 = about 1.34GB into the file, too high even for N64 ...

Yet I almost thought it was real, and was like "w00t, finally a N64 game editor"

Well...
1) I compressed it manually in hex to shrink it as much as possible.
2) That's a custom track to show the editor's 1337 power.
3) Curves? Eh? The squares just show where objects are.
4) Sorry, I should have been more clear; that's not the offset, it's the first 4 bytes of the data. I gave that so it could be found in any ROM.

Paradox: What's this have to do with Ninja AE taking over?

Hehe, I tried to make them sound as real as possible. (Though SM64 does appear to use the same compression. ) Ironically, though, I've made some decent progress on cracking it. Now if that email to myself'd arrive already, I could check it out some more. (It's a RAM/register dump, too big for a floppy disk even when RARed, and it was on the other computer. I can find and look at the ASM in it.)

Oh yeah, and quote my previous post for the real answers to Acmlm's inquiries.
