Time Rebellion: That post was completly uneccesary. What was it about?
Wait a minute, you are ZTaimat! You were permabanned and now you come back to haunt us again? Heh, I don't think so.

Schnauzer: Like Communism, it would work in theory, but in reality it just won't cut it. We aren't anti-social, but a group project has yet to actually survive long enough for even a one level beta...

Graviteh: What the fuck is your problem with me?

cpubasic: Wow, you're right... He doesn't even try to hide it, and yet that doesn't...

Group hacks don't work simply because everyone has their own views on how things should be done. Once a decision is made that one member doesn't think will turn out right is made that person loses motivation, wich in turn discourages the other members, and the next thing you know the hack is dead.

Bah. I don't understand your collective negativity towards group hacks. Group hacks are actually easier b/c you don't all have to do everything yourself. They do require more communication, but the payoff is worth it. The only other major drawback is conflict of creativity. You won't have full creative control over the project, it will be distributed, but sometimes that is a good thing, I think.

But the idea is that a small group of six, seven or eight persons work in the hack... each one in different areas of the game. One in the Yoshi's Island based in Metroid another one edit the Forest of illusion based in Kirby, another one works in the Butter Bridge zone based in Mega Man, etc. If you dont want to colaborate, no problem. But if I can join a small group of hackers could be great. Max. 10 persons could be good.

It's just a ACMLM tribute or a SMW Hackers tribute.

Definitely. It would also make sense, because you could have specialists working together. In Real ROMs, they didn't have people who singlehandedly level designed, programmed, did GFX, and music. they had many. that's why this idea has credit.

Yeah, but you're missing something here - those people were professionals. We're not professionals, and we're not terribly good at working together with any level of synergy.

I think that highly depends on the skills of any given hacker.

Ofcourse, there's also bad coders, so I guess it all evens out in the end.

1. SMWR had pretty terrible level design. Impressive sprite hacks were all it had going for it.

2. Yeah, but that doesn't mean we'd work well TOGETHER.

1. That's what I was trying to point out, was the sprite editing. And as for #2, there are a lot of us who actually can, Kyouji. Just needs a little effort to be put in.

Yeah, alright, fine, if you want to waste your time on a doomed project like this, go right ahead, but when it falls apart, don't say I didn't warn you =/

Well, this is a good idea. Only I wish that Acmlm would of finished Strange Mario 2 & 3 and Strange Mario World. That would of motivated me to do a team hack for him. Maybe I'll do 1 level if this gets off the ground. Nice idea over all.
