Well, that, and why don't you check a MIDI file's size. They can be quite large, because they have different formatting.

if you want something to sound better than snes games, try real pc games instead.
besides, the midi format wastes lots of space.
there are midi players for snes in commercial games and demos alike, but ive never seen them use the midi format 1:1.
that is, they might work like midi, but the music pattern format is altered to consume less space and the instruments are fixed, of course.
wich defeats the purpose of midi, somehow.

personally, i like the mod format better.
i think thats what im going to tackle next, a good modplayer for snes.
