I honestly don't think that if nukes were outlawed it would be able to be inforced to well. Too many corrupted people these days.

Plus, if we (the U.S.) didn't possess any nukes of our own, what would keep North Korea from launching those suckers right now. Definately not our missile defense system.

Exactly what I'm thinking. Nukes are needed in order to defend ourselves.

...You ever notice how political figures are like really ugly? I mean no offense to them. Actually giving them all a makeover would make a hilarious Queer Eye For The Straight Guy episode. Oh yeah... Missle crisis deal. You know, if North Korea planned on blowing up the world, I think they'd tell people first. Just to freak 'em out. Anyhoo, that would give us time to build spaceships and fly to distant planets. We all know from the Civilization games that that would make us the victors of world domination! But... I'd miss the blue skies... *sigh*

The only country I'm concered about when it comes to nukes is North Korea. Why? Because that guy really has nothing to lose. It's a very poor country that's being held afloat by China, or so I've heard. I really don't know what Kim-jong (or whatever) is thinking/planning at this point so it's hard to tell.

As for any other country, it's nerve racking to know they have nukes but I doubt they'd try anything for fear of retaliation. Still, I would sleep much better at night knowing the world was nuke free. Ugh.

Speaking of which, they're currently working on using dark matter as an energy source. Which can be far more destructive than nuclear power. So there you go.

Talk about not being careful. We barely know anything about dark matter.

Do they know how to use it?

What's the damn point of advancing any further? There's never going to be a need to completly obliterate an entire population.

We already have more than enough nukes to blow up the planet. Why make bigger bombs? Though using it as an energy source in things that don't explode might be good...

I guess you have a checks and balances system in international politics. North Korea is checked by China since if they ever pissed China off, they'd be up the creek without a paddle. As long as China tells them "no firing nukes at America/Japan/etc." they'd probably listen since they need China more than China needs North Korea.

Of course, Kim Jong-Il *is* the most eccentric (in all facets) world leader out there today, so...

In any event, I don't see much happening now other than political posturing.

...Seems all of our attention is turned to N. Korea at the time...it should be more evenly spread.
