New comparative image. You can see the the original NES screen, the hacked one and the Master System original.

In other news, I started today to hack in-game GFX. It looks a lot like some old BW Game Boy title. If it's good or bad, you'll decide =)

The color pic looks too plain, but the BW pic looks better, it has more detail. Really looks good, it's like some old movies from the 1940's, they just look better in black & white imo.

Hello, it's time to receive tons of critics
See the first in-game screenshot, really looking like a Classic Game Boy game.

Well, the shinobi sprite rocks. The background is possibly not up to par with the Shinobi sprite but it seems better than the previous graphics.

Thanks Iamhiro! You're right about the background. I could make it more detailed, but I'm just trying to get closer to the Master System ones. Maybe in the next screenshots (coming soon!) the difference will be more evident.

Sorry about my English

The graphics themselves are looking more like the SMS version's, at least. I'm not so sure about the whole B&W thing (as that gameplay screenshot looks a little...bright to me, particularly the status bar), maybe a different single-color would work better (after all, Classic Game Boy games were rather greenish , and the NES does have a decent number of greens). But still, it's looking a lot better than the original NES version.

Thank you guys!
In fact I am thinking about releasing two versions of the game... The Black and White and a colored one...

I like that B/W screen; it looks a little bit Golgo-13-ish; like the opening part of that game, in Berlin.

That's what we need, a Golgo-13 hack! Has anyone ever tried?

Yeah, it looks better. Some ingame color screens would be even better. I'm sure you can make good use of a colored palette. Since the new sprite's face is so small you might as well ignore skin color and have a single-shaded sprite, which I think looks better in the end.

Thanks for the comments!
But I'm confused... I continued the color version today and honestly I don't know if I release the B&W version, the colored or both!

Take a look at this comparative video, with some seconds of each hack (about 4 megs):

Well, if I were you, I would release both hacks. Can't go wrong that way.
