Emulator: FastMAME
Dir: E:\m

I've never used a arcade emulator before. I'm trying to run "dstlku" but all the files from the (What I heard was the "parent rom") "dstlk" are NOT FOUND. Bringing up "dstilk" has same problem.

I guessing right now I just haven't found or made the right folder to put the files in.

By default, putting your games in the ROMS subfolder should solve your problem (If it doesn't exist, create it). However, if you want to have the games in another directory, do the following.

Open a command prompt, and go to the directory you have fastMAME installed at.
Now type this:

fastmame -cc

You'll now have a file called fastmame.ini in the directory. Open it, and change this line to the directory you have your ROMs in:

rompath "X:\WhereverYour\ROMsAre"

Obviously, don't take this path literally. You can also define multiple paths by seperating them with a semicolon.

Sounds like you're missing the parent ROM. In order to run dstlku, you'll need to have the main one. Just having dstlku won't cut it, since dstlk contains files required to run it. Seems like this would be a very simple possibility that you may have already looked into, but it's still a possible cause.

I'd say go with mame32 so you can have a nice GUI and not have to do command line shit; But it sounds like maybe you could've downloaded bad roms, or roms ment for older versions of mame. or something.

I used to use MAME32 myself up until it started giving me graphics decompression errors (my guess was low memory).

Either something isn't identifying all the ROMs or you have the INCORRECT VERSION of them. Darkstalkers, I'm pretty sure, have had a few versions out since MAME-emulation started.

Actually, even the graphical versions of MAME aren't the easiest things to get up and running.

But yeah, wrong ROM versions could be a part of it...I think several ROMs only encompass certain "ranges" of MAME, if that makes any sense.
