I tried to install the update to nVidia's onboard audio/video drivers a while ago, and the MCP Audio Processing Unit update wouldn't install. Last night, it popped up on the automatic updates. Ran it, BSOD. (Don't have the error message handy.) And now... it's not recognizing my audio device. GODDAMMIT. I just tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers. Nothin'. SON OF A BITCH. The rest of the update installs fine, but it's that. MOTHERFUCKER! And now, I can't get ANY sound. MAYBE warning beeps through the onboard speaker but that's IT. The mobo's an Asus A7N266-VM, and I'm running WinXP Pro (SP2). EDIT: DISREGARD. I got it fixed. Installed the drivers from Asus's site. If I were still a full mod, I'd trash. But it doesn't make what happened any less ANNOYING. (edited by drjayphd on 04-28-05 05:59 PM) |

my friend messed up his laptop as well when he updated sound drivers. It looks like he wasn't alone now that you posted this. It seems, it best to get on-board sound drivers from the motherboard itself instead of directly from the people who made the sound hardware |
