Don't ask me about the name. It was Kyouji's idea.

Lemetaal is a program where you can edit a lot of settings in SMW. If you want more settings, open the program's data file and add it (as long as you know the offset). If you're not hacking SMW, you can modify the data file to work with any game.

Remember to report bugs.

Note that not every setting has been tested. I copied a lot from the SMW ROM locations thread.

Download Lemetaal from my lovely designed SMW site

I'm dissapointed in your site, Smallhacker. You need something flashy with iframes and such. Because. Just because.

While I think that an offset editor is a rather stupid idea in general, I have a lot more faith in your ability to make a decent SMW hacking program than, say Darkflight. I'll give it a shot. I want to see exactly how useful an offset editor really is...

"I'm dissapointed in your site"
That's the point.

"You need something flashy with iframes"
I AM using iframes... To get rid of ads...

"I want to see exactly how useful an offset editor really is..."
You won't have to find the address and open up your hex editor whenever you want to change something.

I don't know if this is a bug or not but when you pass "Castle Destruction Music 2" under music settings it changes from 8D: Unknown Music to 00: No music.

The flashy iframes thing was a joke. No one needs flashy iframes.

And as for the editor, I'm dissapointed. It really is as useless as I predicted. It's slow moving because you have to use the arrow keys to choose a value. And no GUI. I'd rather stick with translhexion and my list of addresses. For the many reasons I already listed when it came to DF's editor.

Do you want a freaking cookie? Seriously, I, nor anyone else, don't(doesn't) really care if you like something or not. This is very useful, you might not like it but that doesn't give you the right to call it useless.

I'm only calling it useless because it doesn't do anything useful. It has no valid use. It's just a crap piece of software and any hex editor can do pretty much everything this thing can do, and so much more.

Except you need a reference to be able to even use a hex editor.

You need a table that has:

The addresses
The valid values
Any relevant data (a list of sprites, music, or sound effects, etc.)

This program combines all these things, and it also reduces the risk of making a mistake.

Perhaps you don't like it but don't go around like an arrogant jerk delineating what is useful and what isn't. People find this useful, just because you don't doesn't make it any less useful. You're just a jerk.

If you don't like it, say you don't like it. If you have no use for it, say you don't have a use for it. If you prefer a hex editor and some references, say so, but don't go around calling someone else's work useless as if you were the final arbiter of usefulness.

How the hell does it reduce the risk of making a mistake? Smallhacker's listing system is just as likely to have errors as someone adding them to a list. And any decent list should have all three of the things mentioned above.

This tool is just a feature lacking hex editor that comes with a list. When better versions of those things are out there, this would be... well, obsolete, if the better versions didn't come first.

Seriously, Glyph, if you are unable to make your point without sounding like an arrogant jerk, please do not make your point at all. It's not even the thoughts that are behind your posts that are the problem, it is your phrasing.

I know that the GUI isn't the best one. I'm planning on improving it, but it might take some time, since I would have to program the GUI from scratch... Unless I steal a GUI I find on the web...

Don't listen to these rejects, Smallhacker. I can see how Lemetaal can be very useful indeed. Personally, I'd rather write small programs to change trivial values myself, but am too lazy.

My only gripe is BlitzBasic. But it works, so why bother?

I missed this post.
That is, in fact, a bug. However, what makes me wounder more is why it have got the value 8D in the first place. Maybe the address in the SMW ROM locations thread is incorrect? *Removes from default data file*

But it's not a useful program. It's not a useful program in the least. Anybody who can't figure out how to use a hex editor most likely can't use Lemeetal's one function that a hex editor doesn't have, its data file, but once you know how to use a hex editor you can edit data more easily than with the file anyway.

It's useless. No one has come up with any rational reason why it's not. And I simply pointed that out. Sure, I wasn't nice about it, but this program is just simply a fKitten Yiffer that, as it is, can't do any good for anybody.

But if this is the way things are going to be, then this place is a waste of my time.

Rational reason my ass. This is proof that at least one person found it useful. Now shut up and stop wasting people's time.

Glyph. You've said several times that it's useless. ONCE is enough. Thank you and go chew on a plugged in electrical cable.

In other news, Lemetaal 1.1 has been uploaded to my site. It fixes the bug that D.I. mentioned.

In other news, the program sounds interesting. Maybe I'll get a chance to check it out soon...
